Surfperch fishing Oregon's north coast on Sunset beach. Basic surfperch fishing setup using the high-low rig with some Berkley Gulp Sandworms on my 12' Okuma Rockaway surf rod and Okuma Ceymar C-55 reel. (Links below)
It has been a long time since i have been able to do some surf fishing and finally had a chance to get down to seaside/warrenton/asotoria area to do some fishing. My plan was to get to the beach early enough in the morning to be able to do some razor clamming, but i arrived a bit late and the tide had already changed. I jumped right into surfperch fishing and i have to say, it started off really slow during that outgoing tide. I did manage to hook a couple of fish that were worth keeping in about about two hours, but the big change in the bite came right at the beginning of slack tide, almost every cast was producing a surfperch! It made for a fun day of fishing and i was happy to be able to get some footage that i could share. While surfperch fishing i met another fisherman and we linked up during low tide for some razor clamming, which was a lot of fun, and we found a lot of razor clams!
