Gary, you're like a child seeing the views of your property for the first time. The sky, the sunset, the trees etc. I can almost feel your joy. Be careful on that knee and please don't over do it. I'm praying for a speedy recovery from your surgery. God Bless you both. 🙏 ❤

What you see is so genuine... he does love every minute of being outside whenever he can be out. He's been stuck to the couch now for two weeks (post surgery) and missing it. Thank goodness the weather has cooperated and I don't have to do much outside these days.

Ok I’d be speaking to the moose too. I’ve talked to the deer in our backyard before lol. I always want them to be aware of me in case they want to move away.

Yes we tend to always talk to them too. Then we can watch their body language because that is the number one tell all on how they are feeling about us being in their space.

Can’t you heat up the the chicken coop with with solar panels just to keep them warm when it’s like -30 use free energy just to keep the birds warm❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Simon we purposely dont heat their coop. Too many horror stories of coop fires. We do have a heat lamp on the human side of the coop to keep the chill off. This keeps the coop about 20-30 degrees warmer than ambient temperatures with our extra insulation built into the building. Chickens are a very hot breed and can tolerate these cold temps as long as your acclimate them to the cold. Another reason why we don’t heat our building is if we have a power outage and they are use to warm temps they could die of shock if we lose power for a long time and they lose their warmth. Our coop also is not connected to our backup generator as chickens weren’t in the plan when we built the house. Great question and I'll bring this up this topic in a future video.

First of all welcome to our channel. It’s obvious you’re new to us and our story… so hello! This video was from last month (Feb 2024). If you watched you would see we place dates on our video both in the video and the video descriptions. We just spent the past month bringing to our new brand new channel content from the past three years since moving to Alaska to share our story, how we got here and what we’ve been doing for the past three years. For those who have been watching us over the past month they know this is our first “realtime” video from catching up our channel to 2024. Thanks for watching. More content coming each and every week from here on out from our home in Houston, Alaska!
