Hi, i just saw your video and you are wondering what are these 2 holes on the frame for and i can tell you as i am riding a 2012 C50 in France but here they named it C800 VOLUSIA due to the 805 cc engine.Anyway under your motorcycle you should have found a plastic plate pretty thick and these 2 holes are holding the front side and protecting the metal frame; What i have found is that this part conld be missing after an oil change because the tech shop is in a hurry and don't put it back. You can check with your suzuki if this part is available in in the US; Also i want to thank you for your video on setting the valves and showing all steps using the jpaige trick, it helped me so much.In France SUZUKI stopped selling the C50 because no ABS,but i can tell that it is a simple, cheap to maintain and reliable bike.Take care

Hi J BT, Thank you so much for the info. I am the second owner, the first owner was a very good friend. My 1970 Harley Electric Glide has a metal skid plate under it. I don't think Suzuki put the plate under thiers in the U.S.A. I know I could make one. On your bike check the two small chrome tubes that come out by your exhaust pipes. These are air induction lines and have a tendensey to burn through at the bends on them. The Yamaha V Stars have these too. If burnt through put some J B Weld around the hole, place a piece of metal over the hole then after it gets hard put J B Weld over that. These pipes are pricey. Norman

Norman Thanks for the tip ,i saw your video as you fixed the pipes with J B WELD. I use the 2001- 2011 CLYMER to help. As it seems to me you have built some expertise with engines i' d like to ask you an advice regarding two american famous brands, i am reading on the web on a regular basis that the NEW Harley models are not so reliable if compared with Indians engines. The reasons some guys try to tell that 's because fake chinese parts are everywhere !!and indian bikes are today the real 100 % MADE IN USA; No Indian factory outside CONUS,right In Europe the C50 stock muffler costs 903 USD.a piece.....not cheap Jean

Hi Jean, Any bike you think of buying look on you-tube for a review. Harley was having trouble with motors in the Sportster line. Try setting up a demo ride. They all have good points and some bad. I was going to buy a new Sportster 1200 custom then heard about the motors. Put it off then my buddy passed away so I bought the Suzuki C50 from his daughter to help her out. Looked at a lot of them on you-tube. It's easy on gas, has plenty of power for the way I ride and has a great riding position. It's hard to say what is best. If you see some one on a bike that you are thinking about ask them about it. How long they have had it. Any trouble with it. Owners love to talk about their bikes. Hope this helps. Norman

At time stamp 4:00, you are referring to the 2 holes on the bottom frame near the oil filter. These are used to hold a plastic shield that goes under the entire belly of the motorcycle. It might be missing on yours, pls check.....

Great info as always. As you were talking about protecting the bottom bar I was thinking, instead of the tube you may want to think about Plasti Dip. I have used it a couple of times on other stuff and it works great. 3 or 4 coats would protect it and then you can pill it off anytime you want. Just a thought.

Hi Mark, That is why i love You-Tube, Great ideas shared. Plasti Dip would look better. Lois and i are going out to eat today and i told her i want to stop at Harbor Freight. They have Plasti Dip, going to pick some up and use it. Thanks ,, Norman

Great instructional videos - that sure is a pretty bike you've got there! The valve clearance one is fantastic - I'm about to go make my little tools right now. With that lower bar, my C50 came with a plastic plate which fits onto that lower pipe & goes along between the lower frame arms &presumably protects under the engine. The holes in the bar are for plastic fixer plugs, so shouldn't allow water in when they're in place...

Hi Cath, Thank you for the comment. I put my plugs back in. The valve video will save you some bucks. That is the best part of making videos. I have learned a lot from other videos. All my best, Norman.

Hi Michael, Go to E-Bay and put in ( F11) . That is for "Formula Eleven". A little of this goes a long way. For $56 you get a spray bottle then a small spray bottle. I use the small bottle so it doesn't waste it. In the summer you wash the bike then go over it with a very light spray of F11 and it saves a ton of time instead of waxing it. Then in winter I detail it. This stuff works fantastic. It doesn't say shake the bottle but I shake it some. Can't hurt. This stuff is worth every penny. My back bag is like a rough texture and it does great on it. Use it once and you will be hooked too. Norman

Does the engine tick/knock? I have the 2008 and I bought it with that ticking, heard people say it os normal and they hit 60k miles with no problems. Some others say it is the noise of a bas engine and it is the cam tensioner or lifters? Did you come across that issue before?

Hi Waleed, These bikes makes a sound like a sewing machine. Not a knocking sound. It's the valves making this sound. The valves gap will tighten over time and need to be checked and reset if needed. I think the book says every 15,000 miles. I have a two part video on this. The dealer around here wants $360 to do this job. Norman.

Hello There! I saw all your Great videos. I have the Suzuki Volusia VL800cc and for some reason after (1hr (+) of riding it my motorcycle overheats. New (Thermostat and Fan Switch) were replaced including (Oil, Filter, Spark plugs, Coolant Fluid). Would you have an idea of other things that could caused my motorcycle to (Overheat)??. Please help!! I love the bike and it only has 13,500miles on it, wouldn't like to sell it due to maybe something simple.

Effort, Pa. We've got Cabin Fever from not being able to ride at all this Winter. During previous recent winters, we were able to ride our 400cc scooter about once every two weeks. But, this Winter, our yard and dirt and gravel driveway are so wet, we haven't ridden our C50T since shortly after last fall's Foliage Bike Run for Valor US Military Veteran's homeless shelter. This is me on Twitter twitter.com/brian_seas
