This bike was draining the battery while not running even though it was charging correctly within parameters. I had tested it before I did the video and determined the power supply diode in the regulator was fried, allow power to shunt to ground with the bike off. In this case it was drawing just under 1 amp. pulling .9amps.
This was the procedure for measuring battery draw. Although this ended up being the regulator, it could have been a slight short to ground through any other circuit. If you aren't sure which circuit, you just have to start pulling fuses and see what drops the ma draw.
It is best practice to start off on the highest setting on your meter, most are 10amp. Leave the key off, disconnect negative cable on the battery. Hook meter leads from battery ground to frame ground. If your meter doesn't read any amperange. it is time to change your leads at the meter to allow a milliamp test. Again, start off on the highest of the 3 ranges. As a general rule of thumb you want under 25ma draw. This is all dependent on what accessories you have on the bike. Radios, gadgets, alarm systems, etc. all draw some amperage.
If you aren't sure, test it and find out what is drawing what.
