Hi Phil, well, you have certainly made my day with this video. Marrickville is my old haunting ground where I grew up. I remember occasionally seeing parcel vans running along the freight line there. The building to the far right of the station heading to the city remains a mystery to me. The Marrickville RSL used to have a building there years ago. I don't recognise that new building at all. Back when I was a young child, the trams used to cross the bridge along Illawarra Road above the station. There was no lift on the station, when I was there and the steps were not sheltered. Behind the station platform heading to Bankstown, back in the day, there used to be a tailor and a flower shop along with several other shops. My last visit to Marrickville was bank in early 2000, when we were up in Sydney on holiday visiting relatives, we took a visit by train to both Marrickville and Petersham. Petersham was where my grandparents used to live. Amazaing enough, both our former home and my grandparents' old house still stand. Back in the 1970s, I used to head into the city heading to work each weekday from Marrickville, often catching the single deck red trains, which have since long gone. Anyway, take care and all the best. Rob in Melbourne Australia.

Hey Phil, great video! I would like to ask if you can make the series videos you make (such as this) all in one playlist? I think they would be really good to have for convenience and to be there as a memory.

On Metro opening day in 2025, the Bankstown line will become the most popular line in Sydney.

The brickwork on that station building is really quite attractive. I wonder how many commuters notice?

I recently noticed the xpt carriages felt a bit newer, maybe that's what they were getting transported for:

So once upon a time there was a functional rail infrastructure...sold revamped renamed and a one day will work... meanwhile what has had to change was always questioned on behest of the daily commute

No, no, no & again no! Well known since late 2021, there won't be "separate stations" at Bankstown. The eastern ends of the the existing platforms will be demolished and a new entrance and concourse built allowing non tap-on north-south access and tap-on access to trains. There will be NO trains between Liverpool and Bankstown after the metro entension to Sydenham opens OR with the extension to Bankstown. T6 shuttle between Bankstown and Lidcombe only.

When is the Bankstown Line closing Phil?

Why does it have to be 12 months later to reopen the Bankstown Line for Metro? I know it's delayed but they should be able to finish it in under 12 months.

There is a lot of work to be done. Not only the platform screens, doors and testing them. There’s also overhead work etc etc Plus testing the trains on the line

A tragedy that the T3 line is being needlessly ripped up. A perfectly good line that provides a vital service to many people.
