In hindsight, this is quite an optimistic vision of a futuristic Detroit.

Thankfully the good old Syndicate games came back under the title Satellite Reign. Curtsy from the former Bullfrog developers at 5 Lives Studios.

People demanded that the corporations and those who worked hard deserved billions. And here we are. Soon we will have nothing, and be happy whilst existing in an AR world of green trees, and advertising, whilst meanwhile, the streets are a police-state hellscape. Syndicate wars. Sounds about right.

We loved this intro, SO much, my brother and I. We watched it literally every time we played. I don't think we ever skipped it even one time.

This intro was soooooooo cool back in the day. Computer-generated animation has really come a long way. Could you imagine melting some kid's brain in 1996 with gameplay video of Gears of War or Doom Eternal or something?

How I wish someone out there with time on their hands could recreate this intro with new visuals but keep the sounds. Heck, a reboot of the entire game would be nice... ... but a pox on all their houses if they don't include Ghost in the Shell and Blade Runner ads on in-game drive-in/billboard screens. =P

DruttTV Well yeah certainly. TBH I don't see why people prefer '93 Syndicate to SW. It has in overall just less depth and variation..also I don't understand the argument of original syndicate's supposedly more tactical nature. SW got more soundtracks, better weapons (late stage weapons are so damn amazing). Also the plot is real cool in SW.

I only played the original Syndicate on the SNES, not on PC. I enjoyed it a lot, completed it in fact if i recall. Played it multiplayer with a friend which made it that much better. But overall I think I prefer Syndicate Wars. I recall the AI being much better on Syndicate Wars and all the other things you mentioned. Plus blowing up anything you liked was really cool! Those late game missions were so damn hard. I must admit I never managed to complete Syndicate Wars. One day.... I shall have to re-play it....one day....

DruttTV Indeed the late missions are rage-worthy. At the point where plasma lance is used by enemies you gotta be very quick to not die in 2 seconds. And indeed I love bringing down tall buildings, the rumble of a skyscraper going down is so awesome. I almost completed the Eurocorp campaign some weeks ago. I was at the Colombo orbit station level, couldn't think of something to get to the moon level..gave up. Now playing the church campaign.

Also if you plan to play SW, play with the port. It has always a good and even framerate and bugs are gone. Compared to dosbox emulation where explosions cause slowdowns, map edge areas have too high framerates, menu plays too fast and there is the visual glitches with cars and your cursor can get stuck to screen edge. swars.vexillium.org

Two things: 1. You could tell if you had 16 bit sound working because the initial 'ssssssSSSSSHHHH-SH-SH-SH' was SUPER CRISP if you did. 2. The existence of the "DEVIL FISH" sign in the real world indicates that there are a non-trivial number of people who live in this world without computer chips controlling their brains.
@SerMattzio

I got the impression as this guy is an "executive" that he gets to live in a sort of fictional paradise through the chip. Everyone else presumably has a lower level chip that directs their behaviour but doesn't change their perception of reality. (Since "unguided" citizens are targeted to be killed, and seem to include lower classes).
