I really hope you enjoy the remaining Mistborn Books. Such a treat.

I'm really looking forward to reading them! I'm saving them for after my MCAT January 15th so I can really immerse myself in them. :)

Some very great choices. Although Harry Potter is not in my top 5, I really love the series. And with you and Samantha always gushing about Tamora Pierce I need to try her out next year. I hope that I like her, cause that would mean a lot of books in her world to read. Same goes for Cindy Williams chima and her two series. Both are part of my tbr-abyss, but I didn't get to it yet. And regarding Mistborn, I also have read only the first book, but I'm listening to the second at the moment.

You should definitely try out Tamora Pierce! She is one of my absolute favorite authors. :) I loved Cinda Williams Chima's Seven Realms series when I read it in October. It is one of my new favorite YA fantasy series. I've only read the Warrior Heir from her other series (a long time ago), and I remember liking it, but not loving it. And of course, Mistborn - I am so excited to get to the other 2 books, but I'm saving them for after my MCAT in January. :)

Eldest and Order of the Phoenix are my favorites in those series as well. I've yet to read Mistborn, even though I have a box set, but I have read his YA works(Steelheart, Rithmatist). My favorites, in no particular order are: 11/22/63 by Stephen King Lord of the Rings Omnibus by J. R. R. Tolkien (tie) Clockwork Princess and City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare (both) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson The complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

I haven't read the 3rd or 4th books in the Inheritance Series yet, but Eldest was my favorite out of the first two. I find it weird that it seems a lot of people don't like the Order of the Phoenix as much as some of the other HP books, since it is definitely one of my favorites! I loved all of the stuff with Dumbledore's Army, the Order of the Phoenix, his letters to Sirius, etc. I really want to read Steelheart and the Rithmatist soon! I haven't read any of your top 5 yet! My greatest shame is that I have yet to read LotR. I read the first 3 of the Mortal Instruments series years ago back when they were still a trilogy, but I haven't read the others in the series. Also, I really want to read the Infernal Devices trilogy, but I feel like I should probably reread the first 3 Mortal Instruments books before that, since I don't remember a lot of what happens in those (and I heard they should be read first?). What do you think? Should I reread the first 3 TMI before starting the Infernal Devices?

I think that's the best plan, if you want to play it safe. It's just, if you don't want any Infernal Devices spoilers, don't read City of Heavenly Fire. I read her Shadowhunter books by publication order, which is another route to go.

I've read HP 5 OotP. My top 5 books >500pg, more or less: LotR; Bleak House; Middlemarch; Art by Hartt; NYPO Guide to the Symphony by Downes. You're into art. My top 5 art sites, again more or less: explorethomascole.org , essentialvermeer.com , metmuseum.org (incl. metmuseum.org/toah , which is on art history), googleartproject.com , lascaux.culture.fr/#/en/00.xml/index3.html Since I don't upload videos I thought I'd throw these sites in instead. I have more fav art sites, but I figured 5 is fine for now. Congrats again on 500 subbies!

I have not read any of those yet, shamefully. Hopefully I'll read LotR sometime in the next few months, after my MCAT. Ooohh, I will definitely check out those art sites, thank you so much! They look wonderful! Related to the Vermeer one - Have you read Girl With A Pearl Earring? That was a historical fiction book I read (featuring him) and I found it to be really interesting. Thanks! :)

The Adventuring Bookworm If you like tomes as opposed to books, try Music in Western Civilization by Paul Henry Lang. It's >1000pgs, & it's written in polished, scholarly German-language-influenced English. It's a tome. Though I dare say that reading it isn't as fun as participating in a 4-day UChi Scavenger Hunt! Other (shorter) tomes include The Allegory of Love, and English Literature in the Sixteenth Century excluding drama, both by CS Lewis. Who knows, maybe you'll be the first booktuber with a leatherback *tome* collection pour literati tres haute. :-) I haven't read GWAPE, but it sounds interesting, & I know which Vermeer painting this book title refers to. So you like virtual prehistoric art. Something more up to date in virtual art is at vatican.va/various/cappelle/sistina_vr/index.html You went there perhaps. For the following, these are what I've found to be good quality Art websites (hopefully anyway). I'm not saying whether the museums mntned are either real wonderful or not real wonderful in real life. For modern art: tate.org.uk , guggenheim.org General museums: rijksmuseum.nl , nga.gov , getty.edu/museum, louvre.fr/en , vam.ac.uk , hermitagemuseum.org/html_En/index.html On artists: rembrandtpainting.net , monetpainting.net , monet2010.com , intermonet.com , toulouselautrec.free.fr/home.htm , henri-matisse.net , vggallery.com , rossettiarchive.org , universalleonardo.org For Fine Art history: smarthistory.khanacademy.org , artble.com , preraphaelites.org If you like some of these Art sites, like the Lascaux one, if you cared to you could do a change of pace video on same. Apparently people have read my BIGGEST book (in its 20 vol. macro incarnation), The Compact OED, mightiest of all English language dictionaries. It falling from a height is a weapon. Let's just say it covers a tad more 'n 500pgs. Good luck reading that one! (-:

The Adventuring Bookworm Maybe some day you'll see Lascaux paintings for yourself. There are more cave paintings in Spain. After your MCAT which Med School do you want to get into? One website splits the schools into 1. primary care & 2. research. For 1. they like UWash, UNC-CH. UCal-SF, whereas for 2. they like Harvard, Stanford, Johns Hopkins & UPenn. I'm not from USA, but from where I'm from Stanford is associated with their college football team, & only Harvard & Johns Hopkins are associated with med schools. I am very much not well versed in the pluses & minuses of US med schools.

@AdventuringBookworm
9 жыл бұрын
aww :( I usually love them, since there is more story to read. Occasionally though, I have been put into a slump with a long book. Especially if the story doesn't grab me as much. Like at the beginning of this month, I was kind of slumping with Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor. It took me 2 whole weeks to read! I can't remember the last time it took me that long to finish a book.
