The Mazu goddess is, if not the most revered deity in Taiwan, at least one of the most revered ones.
On the 23rd day of the 3rd month of the Chinese lunar calendar, in Dajia, near Taichung, thousands of pilgrims gather in the streets of the city after a 300km walk, to pray to one of the most powerful and ancient Mazu statue, located in the Zhen Lan Gong Temple.
That day, several Kung Fu Wushu and Lion Dance teams perform all day long all along the streets of the city. For the most famous, they end up performing in front of Mazu, on the temple grounds.
