Anakin knew that, but his fear of losing Padme had consumed him to the point of severe desperation. After inadvertently helping Palpatine kill Mace Windu, Anakin felt from the moment he had already crossed and unforgivable line and didn't deserve to return to the Jedi, so he decided to go all in with the Sith. He figured after Palpatine taught him what he knows, he'll quickly kill him and become Emperor and rule the galaxy with Padme. We see how that turned out lol

I feel there needs to be a followup to this. Anakin sees Qui-Gon's ghost again after dying and being redeemed. Anakin feels ashamed for how he treated the master he never had all those years ago on Mustafar and feels he can't face or see the other Jedi that joined the Force. Qui-Gon though explains that Anakin's did fulfill his destiny and that it went beyond destroying the Sith. The two sides had been vastly out of balance with each other with the Jedi losing sight of following the Force's will and, to an extent, served the Sith unintentionally. The Sith were trying to manipulate the Force to their end and he came about to bring an end to them. He had fulfilled his destiny by destroying the last of the Sith and giving the Jedi a fresh start to grow, learn, and be more adaptable as opposed to the rigid ways of the old Order. Convinced, Anakin follows Qui-Gon to see the Jedi spirits and look upon them.

Probably so. Ive read that palpatine FEARED quigon, way more than yoda or windu because he had his mind in the right place. He firmly believed in following the will of the force, he did not let the jedi orders politics and rules govern him. Because of this he would have helped anakin when dealing with the fear of losing padme, matter of fact he would approve of the relationship. Attachment was not the enemy, its fear of loss. This alone makes him so hard or even impossible to turn to the dark side. This mindset would later be seen in grandmaster luke skywalker (legends version, not the whiny disney version).

The biggest fault most people have, is that they shy away from philosophical debate, they feel it makes things way too complicated then they need to be. On the contrary it cuts to the very heart of the matter, by dissecting issues and fact to expose them to the light of truth. The sith aren't the only order in the galaxy twisting the force for there own ends..... Gin was right on the cusp of this, a near grey Jedi.... The sith are right in one thing at least "the force can self regulate itself and has for millennia, a little Jedi in a temple somewhere meditating doesn't effect the force in the slightest" and the Jedi oh the Jedi they have fallen so far from the Jedii they once were, the Jedi's intolerance and lack of temperance of the sith twist them into mere political tools in every era.... As if some corrupt senators can know the will of the force.... The force is change and while the sith try to control that change, the Jedi end up trying to resist the change....

Screw it, I don't know if anyone else BUT you could do this justice. This is my idea for a Star Wars story that specifically revolves around the character of Leia Organa, set just after Return of the Jedi. As a concept, I'm really proud of it because it's very much about the connection between many of the women in Star Wars. So, I'm wary of it coming across as disingenuous pandering to a female demographic. I think it makes a lot of sense, ties together all three trilogies, without having to actually retcon anything... and putting the male characters on the back burner in a way that makes sense and isn't sexist. But it's also not disingenuous pandering to try and insert a story where it wouldn't already belong, or having to pick an era so far removed from most of the canon material that it comes across as literally just a set dressing for said disingenuous pandering... I think. I hope. It starts off with Leia Organa basically being forced out of politics once people started to find out that Darth Vader himself was her biological father. Around this time, it would also be revealed that Leia is pregnant with Han Solo's baby. As a bit of a misdirect, a medical droid has even informed Han and Leia that they are expecting a daughter. Understandably, Leia is freaking out because she doesn't know how to be a mother, she's Darth Vader's daughter, and Luke's being kind of dismissive about it, and she even keeps having nightmares of her daughter growing up on some junk sand planet like Anakin and Luke did, having to scavenge from the Empire's bones just to survive another day. Not to mention, she can't just go back home to Alderaan and ask the counsel of her adopted mother, Queen Breha Organa. Her family was killed by her biological father himself. Perhaps at the request of Han, Leia sets out on a journey to discover her *maternal* roots, and find out more information about her own birthmother. This would lead her back to Naboo, where she might learns a little about who Padme Amidala was, as a Queen, as a Senator, as a person. Except that Leia wouldn't recognize the name Naboo, and she might even be frustrated at Ben Kenobi for keeping this kind of information from her, and would arrive at Naboo believing that it was her first visit. In fact, I could see this being a "happy accident" in the Force because she might have received information that tied Anakin Skywalker to a Senator from Naboo. Following that lead would take her to Padme, even if the Senator from Naboo that's being referred to was Palpatine himself. Then, while touring the city of Theed, she starts to recognize various landmarks and slowly starts to realize that her adoptive parents actually did bring Leia to Naboo when she was a child, and that they would somehow always bump into Obi-Wan Kenobi during these visits. Eventually, she realizes that the reason they made these trips was because there were only two planets in the entire galaxy that her father would never set foot on again, and the other planet is where Luke grew up and nobody wanted to risk both of Anakin's children being on the same planet. It was to keep her (and Luke) safe from Anakin. But she also realizes that her adopted parents, Bail and Breha Organa, clearly had a lot of respect, admiration, and love for Leia's birthmother, Padme Amidala. And Padme might still hold a special place in the hearts of the Naboo. Maybe Leia doesn't quite buy it, because she's the one that married... Darth Vader. At this point, it's casually revealed that somebody has been following Leia since they left Naboo. I imagine that this is where the Force Ghost of Ben Kenobi appears to her. Following a tense exchange, Ben points her in the direction of Tatooine, to the Lars homestead where Luke was raised by Owen and Beru. There could easily be some kind of data-log entry / digital diary / recording that kind of details the events referenced in Episode 2 - Cliegg Lars buys Shmi Skywalker from Watto, then frees her and marries her. They're happy for almost a decade, and she gets taken by Tuskens. Anakin and Padme show up, and Anakin immediately steals a speeder-bike and takes off, leaving Padme at the homestead. The next day, Anakin comes back with his mother's body, admits to slaughtering all of the Tusken raiders in the camp, buries Shmi, and then takes off. Leia finds Shmi's grave, and there's a weird glow and she immediately goes off, she doesn't want to talk to him, she doesn't want to hear it, she won't forgive him, and as the glow fades out... Ahsoka walks out of the shadows. That's as far as I've gotten, but I don't expect that to lead to an "I love you, Dad!" kind of ending. That's not really the goal, here. Yet, at the same time, I don't want to undermine the character development of the story just to turn around and make it be about Anakin trying to warn Leia about the eventual return of Darth Sidious. There's an understanding that he's already talked to Luke who is now up to his eyeballs in "I'm the last badass in the whole universe! I got this! I was made to train Jedi! Fuck yeah!" mode. And that Force Ghost Anakin might have even already had this conversation with Ahsoka ("Trust me... you lost.") kzitem.info/news/bejne/qK2Bya5mb5ebYGU As far as Leia interacting with Anakin, all that the story would really need is for Leia to kind of blame Anakin directly for the fact hat she keeps having nightmares about her daughter suffering in the heat of some desert junk planet like Anakin and Luke did, and for him to only say something to the effect of, "I won't let *your* dreams become real." and end with Leia giving birth to... a son. Which culminates in Leia agreeing to take the position of General in the Resistance.
