How could we ever get sick of you “blathering on” that’s the best bit 👍 As a kid flicking through the Tamiya Mag I always loved the look of these . That shorty battery was made to measure. Great work on the shocks . Fantastic mate 👊 Have a great weekend 😎

Hiya Rob. Well I get sick of listening me blathering on when I'm editing these! I'm surprised that Tamiya didn't do some more kits based on this chassis. I know that they are bringing out a new Wild One soon. Many thanks for your comments and hope you have a smashing weekend 😁

Hiya Carmine. Yeah like I was saying I was running the old one bit just a bit fragile now. What I like about these is that it's a detailed scale model but also a great RC. Yeah I heard about the Blockhead Wild One. Looks like one for the collection for sure. Many thanks for watching. I keep meaning to have a look at how you are getting on with your truck. Will pop over to your channel later. Cheers for now :-)

I love the FAV, I bought an unbuilt kit last year during the first lockdown and bashed the hell out of it, it survived well until the gearbox went, it’s now a box of bits and deserves a full rebuild, this video may have just inspired me, many thanks !

Hi there. Yeah it will take a fair bit of a beating this one. The gearbox isn't quite as tough as some of the modern ones though. Yeah get it rebuilt. Many thanks for your great comments 😀

This morning I thought I'd have breakfast with a video of Pete. Well, I did the right thing! It was great! I have never had a FAV and this comparison was very interesting my friend. You did a great job on the suspensions as usual. I hope you are well as well as the lady. Nice day to you my friend.

Hey Alex, really good to hear from you. How goes life? Things generally ok here. They opened up the nightclubs here so me and my friend went to a dance DJ night which was great but my mate caught the virus while there which wasn't so good. We've both been jabbed but it's not 100% as we know. I had to go and get tested but negative thankfully. My mate isn't seriously ill but he's passed it on to his family which didn't make him too popular. Anyway we will go out again when he's better as he is surely immune after this? Let me know how things are going over there. Yeah the FAV is a good buggy and even better with the oil shocks (now they work). Cheers for now my friend 😁

Hi there. Yeah it shows how important it is to have a snug fit with the shock pistons. The ones that were on there looked home made. Also shows why you need to keep every single spare part because you never know when they might come in handy. Many thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated 😁

I wouldn't mind the sticker residue on the bonnet. At least from the video footage this looks like worn paint on an old used real vehicle. Looks very cool to me. But can't say how it looks in real life. Enjoyed another one of your videos. Like them very much. Thx, man!

Hi Pete, hope you’re keeping well. What a great original and re-release. Great tips there for us fellow RCer’s. Squeezing the battery in the battery compartment, fixing the mans arm on. Shocks return to better health, great load of tips and tricks in there my friend, always a pleasure to hear your voice and explanations. Lovely running video, showing the FAV at its best. No Richie though, maybe having a knapp. Have a lovely weekend, take care👌😉😁

Great fix on the arm mate, Glad to see you went down in oil weight in the rear (most off-road kits use lighter oil anyway) and finding shock piston (valves) that fit. Love those buggy's (Wild One family) but never had one. Awesome video Pete and great tips too!! Keep up the good work my friend!!! Stay Safe!

Hiya Bob. Yeah the arms on the driver are always an issue. I could probably have gone down even more with the oil weight once the piston actually fitted properly. I'd had it all apart far too many times by that point! I wish I'd bought the Wild One kit when they were available but this one with the Wild One shocks is a good alternative. Many thanks for watching and your great comments. Take it easy my friend 😁

Yeah that exhaust pipe wasn't going to last longer than a few seconds was it 😪 I thoroughly enjoyed this Pete. It was good to see the comparison with your original version, especially the battery compartment that you were telling me about. But I must admit I had a wee pang of regret while I watched the run footage. It looked great bombing around the forest and going over the "Holmsley jump". If I'd given it a proper run like that I'd probably still own it 😁👍
@PeteWylieRC

Hiya matey. Yeah the exhaust was just for show really. I might need to take the engine off for bashing really. I'm glad that you did sell it and it will be out for the group Tamiya sessions for sure. It was good to get those rear shocks working as I was a bit concerned when I first did the drop test. Pleasure doing business with you. Hope all is well. I had another little brush with Covid after going to a Bournemouth nightclub last week. I'm ok and PCR negative but my mate tested positive and is feeling rather poorly. Not serious though so he just needs to man up! The moral of the story is that it's probably a bad time to go to a nightclub with lots of unvaccinated 20 something's 😁

Nice, Pete! Enjoyed the video. Great with a new re-re so your original can stay in one piece. Looks very lovely and lifely running. That is with the stock motor? Good you got the damping sorted out. Well, you always do if I remember correctly 🙂 What do you personally think of the military style buggy style?
@PeteWylieRC
3 жыл бұрын
Hiya Mikael. Yeah just a Tamiya Torque tuned in the re-re. Oh I do like shocks that actually work properly. As you know you can spend ages with different springs, piston tops and oils. I really like the army style of this. Makes a change from the usual racing buggies. Many thanks for watching matey :-)

Oh, Pete, that's great! I'm a total sucker for an FAV, I had a friend in the 80'ies who had one and I was so envious! I saw the Expert Built version of the rere ios available, but it's too expensive and I want to build my own, I got some silly plans to build a fake one from a DT-03, it won't be easy but I think I can do it, ha ha!
@PeteWylieRC
3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Yes I don't know why I didn't get the re-release kit when it came out. I think that I didn't realise how fragile my original one was at the time. Anyway your plan sounds adventurous in that the DT-03 is quite a different shape. You could just paint it olive drab and write FAV on it! Many thanks for your great feedback :-)

My fave buggy, this and the Wild One. I have an OG WildOne and enough parts to build two more. I am building one at the moment actually but stopped and then started restoring a King Blackfoot. I should stick to one project at a time lol. A good sticky stuff remover, glue residue remover is WD40. I am looking at ways to make sure the FAV driver arm is more secure also. Was it tricky getting in there to tighten the screw or did you rotate the arm and in effect screw it on that way?
@PeteWylieRC
3 жыл бұрын
Hiya Damian. Yeah it's a great model this one. Wow that's great that you've got the Wild One kit and all those bits. I know what you mean with too many projects going on at once. Didn't think of WD-40. I probably need to paint this now anyway. With the arm it is possible to get a screwdriver in there. My old FAV has both arms done like this. Many thanks for your support as ever. Best wishes my friend 😁

@@PeteWylieRC excellent. Thanks Pete, I will screw mine in then. My Wild One never had that issue of course 😉 I picked up an alloy skid plate and made a brace for the front shocks. @@DustyFingersRC I look forward to seeing what you create. I quite like when people make a sort of hybrid FAV/Wild One and make a racing buggy but with the more detailed driver and the hard plastic bonnet. I'm slightly tempted to do that although it would mean painting over one of the army drivers. Probably just try to get hold of a Wild One kit :-)
