Absolutely beautiful. Makes me cry, knowing I never came close to this level of modeling. Now I am an old man, with hands that do not work. Thankfully I have your videos to watch and enjoy.

I deeply empathise with you, Mr. Browne, for our similar disappointments blunting our delight in watching this video. My lack derives from poverty from physical disabilities, some since complications during a breech birth. It all denies me the means to participate in such enjoyment, though like you, I take from this what fun and happiness as I can. :) I thank you both.

I love that you didn't go crazy with the weathering. So many airplanes look completely over-done when they're finished.

Hi David, I'm an aircraft modeler as well and you're right. Many modelers go too heavy with the weathering. I've been up to real WW2 aircraft and they don't look like that. Model builders do that heavy weathering and chipped paint because they think it looks cool! Even though it looks convincing, that is NOT how real planes look!
@enzoacorda

That's because aircraft do get beaten to shit. Take the Super Hornets today as an example, hell even Malta Spitfires.
@dietermuller8625

@@vincentlussier8264 , it depends on what the Story is.If a Plane was shiny and new and was based on an improvised Airfield, which was normal in WW2, and they had one Day of bad Weather, the Plane was covered with Mud on the Underside. This is just an Example. If I was in our German Air Force, Ground Personnel, late 80's , Fighter Bomber Wing 32, i have seen many many Aircraft, when I did Cross Servicing, and including our Tornado IDS Bombers, which were covered with Oils and other Fluides, and so on.......It is totally Horseshit to believe Planes are clean.....

Totally agree,sometimes it’s nice to see the weathering toned down for a brand new look on a model.
@tyvernoverlord5363

@@vincentlussier8264 That's because on real WWII aircraft today that are mint museum pieces that are not airworthy and flying around have been cleaned up and restored to factory fresh as much as possible. Like Grabacr said; planes get used and abused, caked with grime and oil, accumulate atmospherics, obtain dusty paint jobs that get worn, paint gets worn to the alloy, and this all was worse in WWII when we didn't have the alloys and paints that modern 4th/4.5 Gen fighters have today.

There's so much to say about this video and build...all of it great. I'm not a big fan of manufacturer specific glues and paints, but I gave Tamiya a try and I am impressed. I'm not a fan of airplane models, but after watching this build I ordered this exact kit and I am excited about getting it on my bench. This video is fantastic (I like the touch of having the sound of plastic cut from the sprue hitting the table top...the music is perfect by the way). Another aspect I appreciate is there are no "magic moments" when sub assemblies appear as completed without showing the work involved. This the finest modelling video I've had the pleasure to watch...and I've watched my fair share of modelling video...this can be held up as the "This is how it's done" version. It is so good that it prompted me, a ship model builder, to purchase an airplane model...I just hope my airbrushing skills (mediocre on a good day) can improve sufficiently before I start this build, Thank You for making this video and Bravo Zulu.

There are people and things destined to success. So it was with this plane. Conceived and made a reality by great minds, and piloted and assisted by other great minds. Those who thought and made this model were no different. And whoever built it and filmed it for us didn't either. Congratulations to all of you. ( And this modeller is from another dimension... )

Great work and great video. I used to build plastic airplane model too. I prefer modern airplanes like f-15 or F-18. But I had to stop once I reached certain level. In order to go any further, the time and efforts double or tripled. You really have to go to those fine details. You have to upgrade your tools. It is not hobby any more. It became obsession.

G'day Dusan, An absolutely beautiful build. For a long time I've been doing a black primer for my bare metal finishes. Thanks to your video I'm going to drop the primer on large models because I can see the logic behind what you're doing. I too have tried the Quinta Studios 3D 'decals'. They really are a game changer when your model is large and you need to see the cockpit detail. A bit of a waste with some aircraft that have smaller, older style canopies. I've even got a Quinta set that fits any 1/35 Willy's Jeep kit. It has dashboard instruments, lights etc. it really gives any model a truly professional boost. I think in several years they will force the waterside decal manufacturers to adopt 3D technology too. I am so tired of good looking decals, that are not cheap, tearing or crinkling even if you treat them correctly. I am now experimenting with ultra thin adhesive sticker decals, made in the UK. They can be 'embedded' into the panel lines etc. by gently using a warm hair dryer. So far, they seem to be working just fine. Your paint job was outstanding and well planned to make the eventual full assembly smooth going, or so it looked. I was really knocked out by your work polishing the bubble top canopy. It was beautifully finished. Of course, I've subscribed for some time now and I can't wait to catch up with your other videos. Thank you so much. Cheers, BH Hobart Tasmania
