The drum task "strike the most drum skins and cymbals", not "get as many bounces as possible". I would argue that bouncing the ball on the same drum is striking just one drum skin repeatedly. As for Mae, I would say they did start with a throw, but there were several more throws along the way. This task certainly left quite a bit of room for arguing semantics, which is a good thing, especially with this group!

The throw judgement annoyed me so much. I think Mae's idea would have been great if they didn't keep on imparting force/momentum with their swinging/wrist (like it would have been a single throw if they'd squatted over the different drum skins/cymbals), but they did. The allowed scoring just doesn't feel like it's in the spirit of the task

I wanted to count Mae's throw but yeahhh not really. Two things helping them though, Greg was totally leaning to allow because it was clearly riling up arguments out of the group, but then Frankie's cast argument sealed the deal when the dictionary describes it as a throw. At that point you gotta hand over the points for the backfire. Technically I still agree that jerking the string breaks the throw, but Taskmaster often goes drama over technical accuracy. Obviously reminds you of the bounce a ball task that Lou & Sian hacked with string as well that it made me wonder if Mae had seen that episode. My own idea though was immediately to arrange the drums like sides of a box to trap the bounces. Other idea is to just use one drum like a tennis racket to keep it in the air (after throwing)
