A Co-vid collaboration between father and daughter. Music and melody written by my dad Gene Kalko to words of an unknown author. This song is about loving and honoring our parents. "They say we don't choose our parents, but I would have chosen mine. What would I do without them?"
Tatyana Kalko is a NY based, Belorussian born singer-songwriter who makes irreverent indie folk tunes. A classically trained singer and self taught guitarist, Tatyana is as comfortable playing a solo set at Rockwood Music Hall as singing jazz standards at The Russian Vodka Room. Tatyana studied acting at NYU and The Moscow Art Theatre School and is influenced by both Anton Chekhov and her dad's Beatles collection. Her songs are a perfect blend of lighthearted introspection, raw emotion and old Hollywood romanticism. Tatyana regularly performs with The Shul Band of NY and is an Artist in Residence with UR2.Global, a non-profit whose mission is to uplift humanity through the arts.
