I shoot A LOT of 22LR and I can tell you that the Golden Bullet's even on a bench rest via a rifle have the biggest spread of any 22LR I've tested (and I've formally tested 20), so when you went out to distance it wasn't the pistol - it was your ammo. You actually did better than I was expecting at that distance with that ammo, so that pistol must be very accurate!

Each barrel will be different and love certain ammos more than others - and even a great ammo can vary from lot to lot Search ronmart on rimfirecentral.com to see my ammo findings, but the summary is the top three I tested were Lapua Center-X, RWS R50 and SK Pistol Match Special. However I tested ammos from CCI, Federal, Eley, Auguila and more. CCI is way overrated but it’s affordable and if all you are doing is plinking steel then it’s fine.

Yep.. read and watched a lot of reviews on the Glock 44 (was in disbelief to be honest because I wanted one). Then watched Outlaw's review on the TX22 and went out and bought one. First time at range - loaded it up with cheap Walmart Federal redbox and had fun. Funny thing is - two ladies in the lane beside me where having all kinds of issues - could not get through a mag without a problem... yes it was a new Glock 44. I let them run a mag through the TX and felt bad telling them it was less than half the cost of the 44 (at the time). I did get to try the 44 though.. it was just like my 19 - well except it is unreliable - second round was ftf. New Taurus stuff is not as bad as people think. Ms. Outlaw - my daughter loves your shades!

Watching this a year later, I usually take HO's reviews of "budget" guns with a grain of salt. He has the resources to max out his weapons and select from the best. Having said that, I respect his reviews of the mid to high range of guns on this channel. The really good thing about HO is he is warming up to some of the budget options. A few years ago, not so much. One thing I can count on with HO is the dude can shoot. 100 yards from a .22 pistol - impressive.

Bought this gun for them almost exact same setup and they are having a total blast. Got them over being trigger shy they acquired trying to control the bigger guns. I'm pretty good at about 25 yards or so, no Honest Outlaw to be sure, but as a dad, this little guy has made a huge improvement in just spending fun time with my boys in the beautiful Idaho outdoors is about as good as it gets. I purchased a Tuarus TX-22 competition this past Saturday. Took it home and ran some Federal bulk auto match and I personally had about 7 failures, a couple stove pipes, and some failures to eject. My son who’s only 10 and never shot a full size semi auto before had a whole lot of failure to ejects where the extractor wouldn’t pick the spent casing up. I put CCI mini mags in and it ran like a top for both of us. I then ran some Winchester Subsonic's which aren’t really subsonic and it ran 100% for me. The bulk of the failures for my son were most likely due to him limp wristing the pistol, and being a new shooter with small hands. I am Going to clean and lube it today then put another few hundred through it this week of more types of .22 I have in storage to see what it does. If it runs 100% with mini mags I’m satisfied since that what I will run steel challenge comps with this summer anyway. It’s always a plus when a .22lr runs Remington Golden bullet, but you can’t really complain much when it doesn’t since that is the norm. Mini mags can be found at time for around $10.00 for 100 rounds so that’s definitely doable for me if I were to run out of the pretty hefty stock I already have.

Lots of people call those TX22 Competitions jamomatic. I did some work on the magazines and can run any kind of ammo like a sewing machine. With any 22 LR cartridge you will have duds but that is not the guns fault. When it fails to feed its a magazine problem. This gun is the most accurate, fun to shoot, 22 that I have.

I know a 22lr isn't the best thing for home defense but 26 rounds of CCI Stingers out of a 16" barrel is better than nothing. @@SEAKPhotog For someone that's getting back into shooting after 20 years away, do you think a standard tx22 would be a good choice, with then room to upgrade to the competition slide/barrel later on down the road if things go well? I've been looking at various 22's and it seems the tx22 is just great value for money and probably one of the more reliable ones out there. Or do you have another recommendation for a 22?
@SEAKPhotog
Жыл бұрын
@hrmIwonder Howdy, I honestly have far more experience with 9mm semi autos than I do with .22s. I know the Browning Buckmark or Ruger Mark IV are probably considered the go-to .22 semis and my stepson prefers the Ruger over the my TX22. What I can say is that my TX22 has been pretty great, especially for the money (altho Taurus did have to send a replacement barrel early on - there was an issue with the early production run). If I was to do it over, I honestly don't know. I think I'd see if I could try all 3 and pick what feels, shoots and operates best and what seems the best built. I am impressed with the ergonomics and trigger of the TX22, that's for sure and I enjoy shooting it but I've never put it up against a Browning or Ruger to get a feel for their differences. Sorry I can't be more help than that! Good luck on your .22 hunt!

Not gonna lie, I think Misses Outlaw stole the show here. That being said, I know this has a similar feel to a VP9 in terms of the TX 22 being a training tool. However, I think it would be nice if Taurus brought the overall design/feel in the hand of TX 22 into a 9mm/10mm/45cal option so this could truly be a training tool for their line of pistols. Now that I think of it, maybe it makes more sense to go the other way and bring the overall function of the TX 22 to feel more like their G line of pistols.

I can not use CCI Mini mags in mine, every 4th, 5th round jams, copper tip 22LR jams. Federal bulk pack & Aguila seem to be the only rounds that I've had some luck with. The mags spring design tends to push the tip of the follower too high. It needs to be level across the bottom of the follower to keep the pressure even. It tends to tilt & the rounds nose hits too high at the chamber, causing jams. I trimmed my follower & solved that issue.

I’d actually argue that a .22 like this (as long as your running reliable ammo) CAN be a good self defense because if youre able to shoot competition style and put 3-5 shots on target fast… your absolutely going to stun/stop your intruder and depending on where those shots land, they probably are going to bleed out (which is why this becomes deadly).

“I didn’t know this either”. Are The 16 round mags hard for you to find? Don’t pass up on the 10 round mags if you can buy them. You can go to Tandemkross or one of the other vendors that are selling the +3/+5/+9 extension kits. The body of the 10 round mags is hollow (same as 16 round mags) - the only difference is the side cut out (which you don’t use after taking the plug out of the follower, the internal spring is replaced with the one you buy in the extension kit and the Internal Limiter (a piece of added black tubing, is removed). You can convert a 10 round mag using the tandemKross +5 round kit to now hold 21 rounds. It works. FYI Thanks for your video!
