@@Bada_Boom78 I agree. One thing that I always take into consideration about purchasing a firearm, especially a handgun, is if it has a thumb safety. Glock does not have one. I've never bought a glock because of this. I know you should never fully rely on a safety but it's just that piece of mind for me.

Based off this review, bought one at my LGS and 8 mags in March. Four months later and roughly 4k rounds through it (several brands and grain sizes). I have had 5 total failures [2 ftf, 3 fte] and all occurred during a range period when I didnt clean the gun after a 650 round range session [2 boxes of Federal Lead bulk 36 grain]. The gun is legit the best .22 handgun and I'll wager a solid edc item if rimfire is a consideration for you. Only real complaint is the finish on the slide is cheap but the internal shows little wear. 10/10 gun, thank you sir for the recommendation!

Aside from having to check my barrel after every magazine to make sure there aren't chunks of lead stuck in the defective rifling, the TX22 is the best .22lr pistol I've ever shot. I Love how they did the threaded barrel. Mine can technically fit in a glock 19 kydex holster in a pinch, but not very securely. Good enough to train with though. There are not many (1 or 2 at most) aftermarket sight options available as of last month when I last checked. I bought mine December 2019 and it was one that had the defective barrel. There are chatter marks down the entire barrel which can (and has) shred off chunks of lead that'll get stuck inside the barrel, leading to serious catastrophic damage if you don't check on it often. There was also uneven rifling and some keyhole issues. There still might be some defective barrels out there. DO NOT BUY ONE unless the gun store employee lets you inspect the rifling with a flashlight. I probably have another 4-6 weeks minimum to wait on them to send me out a new barrel. After a notably bad customer service experience involving at least 90 minutes of total wait time on the phone, and being made to jump through a bunch of hoops to even get them to agree to send me out a new barrel, I requested someone who handles complaints to call me at a later time so I could express just how crappy my customer service experience was. To their credit, they offered me a 15 round extended magazine for my G2C to help smooth things over. That definitely made the apology feel real, and I still cautiously recommend them as a company because of that. I'm not going to say, 'don't buy their guns', but I do highly recommend that you do more research than you normally would and inspect the shit out of the gun before you buy it. At Taurus, they like to include the customer in their quality control process, so make sure you do your due diligence while saving money on relatively cheap guns.

Glad to see others are enjoying this pistol. I really enjoyed my TX22. A friend who is an FFL let me borrow one of the first in the shop to test it out. Put almost 1k down it. Only issues I ever had were related to the mags and how I loaded them. If I ignored the couple that dipped down or up thinking they would straighten out, then they would usually not feed. But if I made sure they loaded fine and didn’t go wonky on me then it ran great. I went ahead and bought it because I enjoyed it so much. Put a light and was my truck 22 for a good while. Got plenty of skunks, raccoons, and snakes with it. Only got rid of it cause a coworker just had to have it and offered a little more than I paid. Upgraded to the beretta 92-FS in 22lr. Great as well

I bought mine a year ago. I have about 2000 rounds through it. The first 300-400 rounds I had a numbers of failures to feed and quite a few stove-pipes. After that I cannot remember a single issue. I don’t attribute all of the initial issues to pulling the tabs down too far when loading, but some may have been. I think some of it was just break in because I can be pretty careless about loading now and the thing just runs. My advise: if you have trouble try loading it with the autoloader but most importantly wait 500-600 rounds before making a judgement.

Got mine last week, took it to the range, fed it cheap target ammo - no issues whatsoever. It was accurate, fun to shoot, no recoil no issues no nothing. If I had to come up with a gripe with it, it'd be the rail. Since it's polymer, it doesn't feel as sturdy as I'd like it to be, and I'm not sure how well will it hold zero with proper accessories. I used a cheap laser and it didn't (I'm assuming it's the laser's fault). I got it for "covid19 price" : $269. I couldn't find anything close to $200, for the time being. Great practice gun.

brother had a taurus 9mm, the "butterfly" part (for want of a better term) that locks the barrel into battery broke 3 times on his before he gave up on it. all factory loads, because reloads void thier warranty. Friend had a taurus revolver, .357mag, he used 38's and if you point it anywhere higher than flat, the rounds slid back and jammed against the face plate. Only when it was Dirty as Hell would it operate like a decent revolver. he got $125 selling it back-cost him over $450. I'd say that was a BAD deal myself.

I am 73 years old and have owned maybe 8-10 Taurus of different types including a Judge. Every single one of them had to be sent back for one reason or the other. If this is really a good 22,GREAT, its about time.

Saw this review when you first posted it, and I've wanted to buy the gun ever since. Just went to my LGS earlier today and they had a pristine condition used one with 5 mags and original box and docs included for just $299. Couldn't pass it up and now I can't wait to get it to the range!

So far this year I've purchased two 2011 Staccatos (C2 & XL), two Sigs (365 & 365XL), a Canik TP9SFX Blackout, two 1911s (S&W SW1911 & Dan Wesson Vigil), two Glock MOS Gen 5s (17 & 34), and this Taurus TX22 based on watching your reviews. I obviously value your opinion and your judgement. That said, please stop reviewing guns before I run out of room in my house!

Love this pistol - actually had 2. My sister liked the first one so much, I gave it to her and got myself the non safety version as replacement. Both have been utterly reliable except with some old moldy ammo and some 30 year old steel cased greasy Russian ammo. They occasionally fail to fire but I put that on the ammo.

@vegeta420z I grew up shooting 22lr, it's not my choice for defense but it will always hold a special place for me. I think most people who grew up shooting probably feel that way. I mostly shoot other stuff but I do bring a 22 along fairly often as I get more range time without as much reloading.

I’ve had this firearm for over a month and after about 2 sessions of shooting and 500 to 600 rounds with no malfunctions I started to notice flyers and at ten yards I could no longer hit a 8 inch steel plate so decided to clean it and noticed the rifling was jacked up towards the threaded end of barrel and emailed Taurus with no response and it’s been two weeks so I called Tuesday and low and behold after almost two hours on hold I gave up and now it’s a paper weight in my gun safe

i bought aTX22 about a yr ago for a practice gun. A few problems with failure to eject properly in about the 1st 200 rds,but put over 1,000 rds problem-free since then.Possibly just needed to be broken in.Also,look at the mag & make sure the rds are staggered,if not it can be an issue

I have a Ruger sr22 and 6 10 round mage showing up in the next couple to 3 days and CAN'T wait to get it out to the range. I currently around 17000 rounds a various brands that I have had anykind of failures through my Ruger sr 22 rifle. LET THE PLONKING BEGIN!!!!!👹☠💣🛶🔫🔫.

The TX 22 is straight blowback with a fixed barrel in the slide. I don't think that'd work very well in 9mm unless you want something as big as a Hi-Point.

@vegeta420z Actually, the big brother to the TX22 is the TS9. It is still not released in the US yet but supposed to coming soon. It is being used by police over there and made it through the 20,000 test. Basically it's Taurus' version of a glock 17.

I bought one of these after watching a BUNCH of .22LR pistol reviews and comparisons. I LOVE it. I was just out shooting this past weekend and we were shooting at 140yd with rifles and i decided to try my luck with the TX and after figuring out where to line up the sights i was actually hitting about 40% of my shots on a torso plate. Great gun for the cost.

I bought one when they first came out, I loved the price with the 50 dollar rebate, two magazines and the trigger pull. Very reliable until the barrel leaded up. After cleaning, I noticed the barrel had spots where it had no lands or grooves and was rough as a cobb. This is when I found out that this was a common problem with first production run. Taurus outsourced the manufacture of their barrel to another company and about a year later I got a new barrel. It works fine now. Just remember Taurus service has always sucked, and if you buy one, remember to check the barrel. As you may get one of the first production run pistols. If you send any pistol back for repair to Taurus, expect a long turnaround time, even before the Corona Virus. Even with the lifetime warranty, you may have to pay to ship it back, depends on how long you had it.
@jimmarcum7362
3 жыл бұрын
@Daniel Lutsky The longest I ever had to wait was about 5 weeks for S&W to repair my revolver during the start of the pandemic. They paid shipping both ways, I had purchased the revolver 3 years prior to sending it back. I think Taurus will only pay the shipping if the pistol has been purchased recently. Of course I had a brand new TX22 that had a sewer pipe barrel from day one. A year is too long for waiting on a new barrel.

own 2 of them. I've put ~ 5000 rounds through one, only cleaning it 3 times. the reliability is remarkable. BUT... Thunderbolt ammo is terrible, and it's terrible in this. Split cases galore. AVOID
@ppmnox

@ma tem between 4 regular range visitors, Thunderbolt is well known to have split casings occur in at least 1 out of 500 rounds. I shoot ~ 3k rounds per week and shot Thunderbolt for a week straight. Awful experience, and it mirrors other range members experiences. BTW, encountered issues in my tx22, Browning black label, and Ruger MKIVs...not a fluke and not specific handgun related. moving forward, it's a hard no for me.

In this day and age, with the cost of ammo and availability. I warm up with a 22lr pistol and rifle at the range. Every other range day or so, I break out the bigger caliber stuff. While ammo is starting to be seen in many places now in late 2021. The price for most of it is still insane. Online prices for 22lr is still 18 cents or so a round plus shipping which is really insane.
