I have one of the Lee White era basic hardwood Barlows and that's impressed me enough that I now have my heart set on one of the ramshorn premium models. The more I see of T.E.W pocket knives now, the happier I am to start buying them.

The swell end on the Eye Witness not only looks better but must make it more usable than the Boker style. One of the things that make a craftsman an artisan, is an eye for the materials being used and how to make the most of it, Lee is consistent with the quality and the has that artistic eye. Fanboi? More aficionado I would have thought, for anything you have a passion for, you can't have too many/much providing you can afford it and it doesn't affect your life adversely. Aside from the 200 or so knives I currently have, I have a passion for making walking sticks, I have made hundreds since I was a teenager, sometimes I sell some, sometimes I give them to people who like a particular item but I have about 20 that I will never get rid of for one reason or another. I have no problems walking and even if I did, two sticks are optimum for most humans but I like the twenty(ish), I have another ten or so in the pipeline.

The hardwood ones can repay a bit of work. Unfortunately, if you don’t own a buffing machine, it can take a lot of time to bring everything to a good polish. I know this because I don’t have a buffer! Also remember, TEW don’t do stag these days. They only do it by special order and if the stag is supplied. They do this for the Famous Sheffield Shop, so that or the second hand market are your best bets. Thank you for watching and commenting.

@@slick_slicers .... I have just purchased another pattern that I have been looking for in cover materials other than resin, TEW pattern 260. I have always called this the "Bunny knife".... I dont know how I came by that name but it stuck. Have you seen or got one with different covers (other than Farmer's resin)?
@slick_slicers
6 ай бұрын
No I haven’t seen any from them other than in the Endurance Series. I do have one by Michael May, in oak (I think!). Yes a Bunny Knife was a common, but informal, name for these knives. I seem to recall it being linked to Australian immigrants bringing them from Sheffield where they were known for skinning rabbits. But I may be wrong!

Michael Gentile I get mine mostly from David Kidd at the Bakewell Cookshop (BakewellCookshop.com) but his stock is usually limited to 5 or 6. The Famous Sheffield Shop (Sheffield-made.com) seems to carry a few, or Warthogg (in the US) has bought from a place called nomadostore.com in Belgium. Their prices were good, but their postage was expensive and he had to pay duty/tax I believe. He’s also bought from The Famous Sheffield Shop.
