I originally purchased the Samsung Q60 since it was on sale for Black Friday. My Hisense QLED from a few years ago developed some sick screen burn. My hope was to get an upgrade or at least equal value to that TV. After a week with the Samsung and doing more research, including reviews like this one, I returned it for the TCL. I was worried since I figured Samsung is the best, and perhaps they are in some areas. I am so glad I got this TV so far. After some calibration (ty), the picture is amazing! For the value, it’s an excellent choice and I would recommend it for sure. I certainly like the picture more than the Samsung. Features are easy to use and the remote has a backlight which is pretty dope. Don’t sleep on this one!

Why are TV manufactures not calibrating the TVs. Why should the end user have to lay out hundreds of dollars to make the picture right on a new items.

This is a TV for our secondary living room /game room so we were focused on value = performance for the money. We had the TCL R655 on our list but its not sold anymore. We like it so far, and I look forward to getting your settings ($5 is fair).

I purchased a 55” TCL Q7 a few days ago and so far so good. I know calibration settings are not universal and don’t work the same for all sku’s but I used someone’s recommendation settings. Now I’m happy with the picture (settings below). Also I’m not experiencing the picture settings issue with them resetting but it’s only been about 4 days so we’ll see.. I do have a few gripes so far like watching 4K UHD movies on my Sony UHD player not looking great when using Dolby Vision. I use HDR 10 instead and prefer it right now when watching my UHD discs. Also my soundbar doesn’t turn off when powering off the TV and sometimes doesn’t turn on when powering up the TV. Also not a fan of the motion on this TV while watching movies but I’ve noticed that most newer TVs have the same issue with motion handling by stuttering on pan camera movements. I just messed with the motion settings and changed it to Blur Reduction: 1 and Judder Reduction: 3. I might lower the Judder to 2 bc I hate the Soap Opera effect and sometimes the 3 Judder setting might be too smooth for motion handling. Some things that I really like about this TV is it’s remote. Buttons light up when you pick up the remote so no more fumbling with the remote in the dark. Little things like this go a long way. Also another plus is that the HDMI (E)ARC input is a HDMI 2.0 input so you truly get 2 HDMI 2.1 inputs (Inputs 1 & 2) for 120hz gaming. Unlike my Sony OLED that annoyingly takes up the HDMI 2.1 input as also being an (E)ARC input. Another great perk is having actual storage capacity like 24GB compared to some of these TVs only giving you like 5GB (which is ridiculous). And last thing is it’s a Google operating TV which I love. I highly recommend TVs that utilize Google because you get more app control settings like Force Stop for example. Plus its user interface is clean and simple or at least it is in my opinion.. Overall I’m happy with this TV especially for $448 (sale price right now at Best Buy, normally $599). I’d give it 4 out of 5 if I was to rank it. 😊 Calibration settings for “Movie”: 2 points: R Gain -2 G gain 0 B gain -16 R off set -2 G off set -2 B off set -3 20 points: Interval 4 Red -3 Green 1 Blue -4

We have this TV for $569 for the 55" inch version here in Manila. Looks like a very good value considering its gaming and black level performance. Will probably buy it next month as my old one gave up already. Thanks for the review.

Got my 65” for 700$ Great deal Only thing I’m mainly a bit annoyed with is my remote the rubber they didn’t fully finish on the edges of the arrow key, input and power button. You can see the back light on the edges as if the keypad faded or was simply just not fully padded with black. It’s not her biggest deal but when I see everybody else’s remote completely black on every button with back lights and mine has those edges that aren’t fully completed then it’s a bit annoying

Noticed everything you are saying fairly quickly. Coming from a Hisense u8g 55 inch to a 75 inch q7 I noticed that a lot of the motion and image processing/clarity was just way better to my eye but that the highlights don’t pop the same way most the time and that the color is muted and in accurate. Over all I love the tv I got for the money and the size and it still is really pleasing to the eye..but I’m definitely looking forward to trying your settings

The sad reality right now dude is that there are only a handful of games that are designed for 120hz. You can google the list and check. Hopefully in the future it will be a regular design feature.

Hello there, I'm planning to get this tv on the following days; if I want to get your calibration stuff, how can I do it? Is there a contact you could share with me? (Email). And one more question, the calibration includes for gaming and other aspects or only one? Thank you so much for your reviews and for responding.

Do you have setting for SDR and HDR settings for the membership?

I went from the x80k to this. However, my tcl out of the box was on smart HDR brightness was at 87 when it restart the settings. But if I restart the setting again it seems to go up for example 81, then 90 then 98. Lol It’s weird But my main question is have you experienced or know how to stop the tv from basically doing that auto brightness type of thing. I’ll be watching tv and my brightness is at 60 and will sometimes go to 52 or go up. And I’ll put it back tk where I had it then it will sometimes change itself while watching tv or changing apps. Not sure what setting there is to fix that. Cuz I don’t think it’s an issue I believe it might be a feature

There should be a brightness setting that changes the brightness based on the ambient light in the room. Sorry I’m not great help atm because I can’t pinpoint where the option is but I know it’s there!👍🏽

Looks nice, Is this one of the better ones to get if im looking for $500-$600 for 50 or 55in tv? Ive been looking at a few like this one, Q60C, and the TCL Series 6 but really not sure what is best right now for that price point. They all seem like they are at the same pros/cons and nothing stands out.

Im sorry, but the TV market is just so damn dumb. Everything is entirely overpriced. Most content is not being shown in true 4k. Streaming bit rates suck. OS on these TVs are outdated and broken after a year. The only real reason to buy a high end TV is for gaming. Its utterly pointless and a total waste of money to spend $1000+ for a TV just for it to stream stuff at 15 Mbps.

I got this tv and ended up returning it. My experience with it was that there was no right setting or right calibration, depending on what was on the screen really determined how things looked. I spent an entire day messing with it. Overall it has a cold color cast to it, and pinkish. Skin tones were a mess, and mid-tones between shadows and bright areas were not smooth. Off angle viewing brightness was dramatically different. By contrast, my experience with the S series 4 has more consistent viewing angles, better warm tones, clearer picture and so on which is just baffling.

Reviewing a 55 inch is pointless... A 55 inch is a kids room "tv size" in this day and age. Smaller size TV's never come with all the bells and whistles a larger size does. Weird, but that's the tv game right now. Larger size same model, will always be a step up from smaller size, in specs alone. This same model tv, at 85 inch, is spectacular. The best bang for your buck at the price, on the market currently!
