Hewitt was cocky against other players. He had humiliating behaviors, he had racist behaviors, he had insulting behaviors and so on and so forth. However when he played against Federer, there was no scream, no cocky behavior. Federer thought this second class player how to be humble, how to behave on court.

@@tariqjoseph3562 he changed racket in 2014. Tested it in Gstaad and Hamburg in 2013 but ended the season with the pro staff 90. Then he permanently chose the 97 just before the AO. But I agree he should've changed racket earlier, probably by the end of 2008. He would've been way more successful.

@@user-cy6xl3vd3f yeah it all goes back to the point, that the courts and balls changed against him, while Djokovic and Nadal (even Murray) thrived. Must’ve been tough having such a genius game built for fast courts and balls and then have to except the game happened to change dramatically during your peak. Hard to make such big changes during your prime, but you saw what could have been in AO ‘17 if he did make those changes earlier. Still, that’s the way the game went and he still have a great career and at least it evened the playing field more. Would have been boring having an op federer dominating for 20 yrs, shame he nerfed himself for so long though.

Counterpuncher base-liner man, he was criptonite to all the serve and volley style players of the 90s coming in the 2000s. Being a counterpuncher means he uses the opponents power on the ball to counter, he might not have had power himself, but he had one of the finest footwork and tenacity back then. More than decent vollier, great lob shots. In his prime was great to watch.
