I suppose it could result in a destroyed computer too.... just wondering ???? I like your very informative videos !
@big0bad0brad
8 ай бұрын
It doesn't necessarily destroy the computers but it can vary from no noticeable effect (if the alternator regulation is REALLY good), to the car sputters or shuts off (voltage regulation bad but not terrible), or possibly damage to the computer(s) or sensors (voltage regulation is getting out of hand without the battery there to stabilize it). This happened on my Grand Prix and it landed in the "car sputters or shuts off" bin. The longer the problem is allowed to persist, the higher the chances for worse effects.

Scotty: Talk to an aeronautical engineer about RTCA. It's RTCA, not the FAA that ensures aircraft safety, both h/w and s/w. It's a long story, but simply put, every line of code in an airliner undergoes independent verification and validation (IV&V). This is one reason why airliners are so safe. I asked a Tesla engineer, does you code undergo independent verification and validation? Answer was a sheepish, well... no. And cars, unlike airplanes, have to deal with pedestrians. Okay.. In 1942, Asimov created the Three Laws Of Robotics. Does anybody designing robots or self driving cars do ANYTHING to incorporate The First Law Of Robotics into their systems. Oh, h311 no! Better yet change your transmission fluid on a regular basis. There are two schools of thought on this. Every time you change your oil you suck out a quart and put a new quart in. OR every 30,000 to 50,000 miles do a complete fluid and filter change. In a perfect world do both. people complain that is expensive but it is 10 times cheaper than replacing the transmission. (side note dodge and others are selling no maintained transmission, do not believe them. If you go look up the OEM manufacture schedule nothing has changed. They still need regular service.)

Btw......I hate EVs. Their battery's suck. I have ta rent one for a few weeks while my Dodge 5.7 is in the shop. She broke a valve spring, lol.

Why can’t the US lead the way in larger Electric engines Hybrids?? GM made a really bad mistake closing their Australian operations that was developing interesting EV tech

Since I will be moving back to California to help family and I know that cars require smog checks there... if I find a 1975 or older I won't have to do all that.. My question is what kind of car 1975 and older would be a good car and not a gas hog? Thank you

A well maintained Super Beetle. Very simple, gets the job done and looks cool, spare parts available (you can literally order an entire vehicle online), and reasonably good on gas. If you aren't tall, the VW Karmen Ghia is also a lot of fun. I sincerely hope your family does well, fair winds and following seas.

Old Toyota Starlet.1980 or older. Good gas mileage, cheap to service. No electronic garbage. Will go 400,000 miles without major overhaul. Carburettor, not fuel injection. I owned one. Should have kept it.
