Gigafactory Texas on 13 May 2022! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
Happy Friday the 13th! Despite the ominous date, workers and employees were very busy around the site, with several significant changes of note!
On the south end, more Model Y’s are arranged in the car shipping area and appear ready for shipping! We see more solar panels have arrived and moved onto the roof, along with new areas of mounts arranged as well. East parking lot progress, including what appears to be the start of lighting, and progress on the northwest roof corner HVAC ducting installation. Demo work moving along quickly at the former old plant location and pond cleanup ahead of demolition as well. The battery cathode foundation area shows GeoPier equipment disassembled and moving off site while a huge crane has been assembled to get ready for vertical construction.
So much to see today, including narration and annotations, both in the video introduction as well as the main video itself!

Here are the highlights from today's video:
On the south end, several (over 100) Model Y’s are arranged in the car shipping area and appear ready for pickup and shipping! Where these cars are going and when will they be picked up, I cannot say with any certainty at this time.
On the south end of the main building roof, we see a large shipment of solar panels have arrived and moved onto the roof, along with new areas of mounts arranged as well. More of the “L” has been formed, and repair work on the “E” seems to be underway.
East parking lot storm water pipe installation and electrical conduit trenching continues to make progress, including what appears to be the start of lighting on the northwestern half of the parking area.
On the northwest roof corner over the battery cell production area, we see more progress on the HVAC ducting installation, now with the rectangular areas getting the final top structures while the angular vents are nearly completely installed as well.
On the north side, we see demolition work moving along quickly at the former old plant location, now noting all structures have been demolished and removed. Concrete is being broken up and removed, showing the entire area will be brought back to dirt ahead of the next phase of construction. Just a bit farther north, the pond cleanup continues with disposal containers on site for removal of all the debris and contamination at the bottom of the pond. Expect the next step to be demolition of the entire pond as it is no longer needed.
The battery cathode foundation area shows GeoPier equipment disassembled and moving off site while a huge crane has been assembled to get ready for vertical construction. A substantial amount of steel components are arranged and ready for construction to begin.
Across the site, we see many deliveries, some at the paint shop & stamping areas, but more on the east and west sides of the main factory as well.
At the casting machine area, we see more test castings being loaded up on trucks for recycling. There is a lot of speculation that this is part of testing the new cooling process in Giga Press #3 which is designed to double the original throughput of castings.
