I love the Cake Whipped Mousse layered over a hard gel. It gives me even stronger hold than the gel alone and I get more volume. It dries crunchy but it’s easy to scrunch it out and my curls last longer. I have fine low density high porosity mostly 3c curls with some 3b

this is so interesting bc my experience with the cake whipped mousse has been surprisingly really great - it's the one of the only hold products that actually gives me hold and lasts til my next wash (only 2-3 days later bc i have an oily scalp). so the fact that it doesn't have many ingredients that provide hold was surprising! but i despise the curl cream, i have fine, low porosity hair so it kinda just makes my hair feel greasy.

Hey Mell! As you asked the europeans for some brands to review, here in Spain there's a very popular brand called Freshly Cosmetics (and they also ship to Canada within 48h-72h). The thing I love the most is their philosophy: cruelty free, vegan, safe ingredients and 100% plastic free (that last thing is really hard to find). They have an affordable line of products for curly hair and I'd love to see you trying them! I used some of them in the past, when I was just starting my curly hair journey with very little knowledge of how to do my hair, so i didn't really had the chance to see the results in their full potential. Now I'm trying their skincare products, which are absolutely amazing 😍 Hope this seems interesting to you and maybe decide give it a try! Peace 😉💕

I have to say, in case this video scares people off.. Cake the Curl Whip Mouse is my HOLY GRAIL product, and I’m more wavy than curly. It gives me awesome curl enhancement, but I do pair with a hard hold gel. I think curly kids would probably enjoy it but I couldn’t even finish it. A question for Mell (or any other hair professionals or people with this same issue), since you mentioned taking care of your scalp and not just washing for your hair: What does your routine look like if you are also treating for scalp psoriasis? For context, my hair only needs washed once a week, but my scalp probably needs more... so in one wash day, I use Nizoral for my scalp (ketaconazole is the only thing that keeps the itch and dryness at bay), then a shampoo that is either hydrating or clarifying for my hair, and of course conditioner. I wonder if I am doing too many things at once though; am I negating the effects of one of the products by using them all together? Should I actually be washing my hair/scalp twice a week? Your past videos talking about the different types of products for dry scalp/psoriasis were super helpful and I wouldn't mind more content about those things! Thanks Mell!
@coco604
Жыл бұрын
Hi, I know this is super late, but don't worry! You are absolutely not negating the effects of the products by using them all together, especially the two shampoos. That's a great way to use shampoo especially for scalp issues. Also, I'd reccomend washing your hair once a week to not dry it out with that stronger shampoo, and then just use topical scalp treatments (pattern beauty and royal oils by head and shoulders have great ones) in between wash days

If you have any New To Their Curly Hair curlfriends, i would love to see a video like this on hair that's still going through the "education" phase. Those struggling with years of heat or chemical damage or both, those learning their routine and curl pattern, what tpye of hair they have. The list goes on.... My hair has improved tremendously over the past 4ish months thanks to channels like yours and others. Trial and error of course is best, but can be costly to a new curly person. One major thing i always remember is we all have different environments, temperature, changes of climate through the seasons, dry heat vs humid heat, hard water vs soft water. I know what works on any given person may not work for me.

Dear Mel, I just wanted to let you know how much you've changed (and bettered) my curly hair in just 2 days! I thought I had a curl pattern similar to Amanda's, even a little bigger, but have now realised I've been waying down my hair with too much of the wrong products! My hair is almost has a curl as tight as yours! On Monday, I bought all new products, hilariously I bought them before I had even seen this video, and had a full reset. My curls were super bouncy and tighter afterwards. On Tuesday, I washed again (I felt like I needed to), I bought new shampoo and had seen your tutorial on how to blow dry your hair for definition, volume and elongation. I focused on definition mostly, with a little volume. Today is Wednesday and my hair is almost as tight and defined as yours. I'm in shock. Thank you so much for all of your professional and easy to follow advice, producted suggestions and reviews, and beautiful personality. Your channel has literally changed my hair game forever❤ P.S. Hi Seesters! I know you have made several vids within the topic of routines for winter and low/high humidity, but I would really appreciate if you could go a little deeper. I live on the east coast of Sweden, and like you we have four seasons. My problem is that I'm very confused about the humidity, and what counts as high and low. At 10 pm tonight the temp was 0°C with a humidity at 78% and an cloudiness about 40% , 6 am on wednesday it's supposed to be -2° with 99% humidity and 100% cloudiness, and to top it of the prognosis says that 1 pm on friday will bring +2° with 42% humidity and a clear, sunny sky. Is there such a thing as perfect humidity? At what humidity should you be careful with humectants, and what do you do when the temp is -8° but the humidity is at 90% or higher? I do hope that I'm not the only one confused about this 😅😶

I can't wait for my hair cut next month. My wonderful hair lady had twins before my last apt, so we had someone fill in. And oh I realized how much my current hair lady brings to the table. Thank you for turning us onto so much knowledge and wisdom!!

Have you tried aussie bond protecting serum? So many companies are coming out with bond building stuff and Im not sure what exactly is helping the bonds!

Idk why but my thin ass hair loves Cantu curl cream, my waves do not define very well with out it. My strands are course sp maybe it's something with that.

I read this as my thin ass loves the curl cream 🤣🤣 i was like what has your weight to do with it.. I use this curl cream now and again. Do you ever feel it weighs down your hair?

@@Chloe299XxX I think it does a little but I've tried other curl creams such as curl Smith's and it was too light. My hair just didnt stay as long and form the nicest wave. So far Cantu is the only one it performs best with, and when I try a new gel that works nicely it will still preform best paired with Cantu 😂

@@AshleySimpkins666 ok. Maybe I need to experiment more. Can't get Curl Smith yet. So haven't branched into buying online.

@@Chloe299XxX I like the blue berry bliss jelly and the Dove amplified textures gel! I dont have any creams to recommend though besides curl Smith. Which was nice just not enough hold for me

@@AshleySimpkins666 oh no way. I don't have those brands either. I'm in Ireland most things we have to get online. I didn't even realise Dove did a curly range. I need to book me a huge suitcase and go abroad

Thanks for the comparison review! I use Cake Beauty The Curl Whip Whipped Curl Mousse and my hair loves it. BUT I do not use a curl cream with it. My hair loves the combination of Giovanni Direct Leave-In™ Weightless Moisture Conditioner, with Cake Beauty The Curl Whip Whipped Curl Mousse, and then some Giovanni L.A. Styling Gel(in the length only) on top. Go figure! Every curly head of hair has its own personality! LOL!
