I just want to say that essential oils can be very dangerous, especially if you have little kids. Putting them directly on your skin, undiluted, ingesting them, or getting them in your more vulnerable areas (like your eyes) can be really harmful, and they can cause allergic reactions. So frequently, the essential oil MLM people use these in ways they shouldn't, and it can be so damaging.

Yes, this! People forget that most things out in nature are "natural and non-toxic" but can still be poisonous to pets (eg. common lily flowers - lilium) as well as cause a variety of problems. Essential oils are unsafe to go anywhere near soft tissue like lips, eyes, nose and can even cause rashes and chemical burns (everything is made of chemicals, including plant based stuff) on normal skin.

I know you said youd never buy Huel again, but i think you should try the hot and savoury product. I have a mixed opinion of huel. I used to be a big advocate for it, then i did a nutrition diploma and didn't agree with it any more. Also, if you have digestive issues the hot and savoury may be a better choice as obviously our bodies are designed to chew and swallow food. If youre drinking the shakes like a drink, you will feel hungry, and your gut will get a shock. You dont absorb the nutrients in the same way as whole foods. That being said my partner has food issues and finds it easier to have the hot and savoury at lunch than preparing anything. And atleast it does have the vitamins and minerals to help out his diet a bit rather than getting no veg or fruit at all. Sorry this is is long but basically id like to see your opinion on the hot and savoury as it feels closer to real food. On another note, could you also try smol? I'm definitely more tolerant of protein products, but I have two main takeaways from the stuff I've tried and the issues boil down to two things: 1) Whey Protein - I think it's this protein specifically that is the cause of the nasty aftertaste and texture that's commonly an issue with these products. On the occasions I do opt for protein bars I gravitate to vegan options that use soy or pea protein. However I think these taste much better with either actual sugar or just being salty/savoury which leads me to: 2) Sweeteners - why are almost all of the companies insistent on pushing "sweet" protein products. Of the tastiest sources of protein that I don't need to refrigerate I land on either dried cured meats (like jerky) or dried beans/peas (which are also a good source of fibre). Both of these can be (and sometimes are) flavoured in interesting ways and they're both nicest when not trying to be too sweet. So why are these relegated to the sidelines in favour of trying to hide protein in fake tasting candy?
@elizabethrose7752
3 ай бұрын
Huel does a pretty good job. They are vegan, and use the pea protein isolate, but I just think Grace doesn’t like the chalky protein taste that comes with most of these products…because it’s just what they are. Also, they use stevia I think to sweeten it, which is also an acquired taste, but of all the sweeteners, it is the most natural and gentle on the body for most people (as things like sugar alcohols, ie erythritol can be hard for some people to digest…me being one of them). I use huel because it does hit most of my nutritional needs, and dietary restrictions, and still tastes pretty good…but at the end of the day, if you don’t like protein powder, you don’t like protein powder. 😂🤷🏻♀️

Grace I’ve been considering Halara but they seemed too affordable to be true. Looks like my gut instinct was correct.

Interesting to hear it is not just me that has the worst time with Halara. I was so upset when my 2 jeggings split after a month or 2 of usage. They fit me perfectly but material is 100% cheap and would not recommend anyone buying halara clothing.

Personally, I loved the Halara crossover leggings WITH THE FLARED BOTTOM. The regular ones stink. They didn't fit my body at all, and for some reason they're a different fabric? So confusing. I can confirm the return process is not fun and also the brand is fast fashion so if you have the ability to get from someplace else please do. I just thought people would appreciate another perspective.

I think the "freebee" from the first order is something you wet when it's really hot and put around you're shoulders or tuck into you're shirt yo keep you cool.

The only protein bar I’ve been able to stand are the bare bells ones, the peanut and Caramel ones are the better flavours!

If you're looking for a tasty protein bar, I would recommend Barebells! They're relatively pricey, but the texture and flavour is really good. My favourite is the Cashew one :)

Why wouldn’t you just eat a cinnamon roll?! 😂 Because there’s no protein in a cinnamon roll!! 😂 Fr, I think if you understood how difficult it is for some people to get enough protein in a day you’d understand why people just chug these drinks. But you’re not a gym person and that’s ok!! And on the Fabletics front - active wear is a huge part of staying motivated for the gym 😂 So yeah a new item each month is nice sometimes but omg Fabletics is so hit and miss. I have some I love but I’ve also returned so much.

Overall, we would be better off eating food made from scratch...and if more people could learn how to sew their own clothes again. 👏🏼 Our reliance on others for these necessities has complicated life. First world problems, I know.

If you're looking for a cleaning product that's safe in pregnancy, essential oils are not the way to go. They're chemicals made by plants, but they're still chemicals, and a lot if them have been made by the plant for defence purposes. They're not gentle, they can be poisonous or cause skin irritation if not properly diluted in carrier oils. If your priority is safely you're better off with an established brand like detol because they will only be choosing ingredients based on safety and efficacy not for marketing purposes

I struggle with periods of low appetite and drink things like Huel when it's better than not eating anything and marginally better than something like Complan. It's the most calorie dense/ nutrient rich thing I can get down my neck. I think they taste pretty good for what they are, definitely drinkable but unless you can't eat anything I don't know what their use is, you're better off drinking/eating anything else that's naturally got nutrients in

I wish Huel would offer versions of their sweet products made with real sugar rather than goin all-in on the sugar free. We're just starting to get data that non nutriative sweeteners may cauuse worse problems than sugar. Id rather have sugar in moderation.
