Another pro tip; I use a wireless headset microphone to communicate with the band (old Shure 183Mhz unit that interferes with nothing). The receiver pack has a "Mute" button. The mute button is how I control my TB. I can be on the other side of the room, unmute my headset mic, and communicate with the band very effectively without yelling. It also keeps your hands free, so I can talk while moving things, etc. If you're at the console, you solo their monitor channel in your headphones, you can mix monitors very effectively, hear what they hear, and when they speak into their mic in a normal voice, you can hear them. Because you have a headset mic, you don't have to deal with proximity effect on a TB mic. Ergo, you can speak in a normal voice and communicate back and forth very effectively. Bonus; If the club owner needs an announcement made, I just move the TB fader up and now I'm part of the public address. 20+ years doing it this way. It's flawless. Bonus 2; People see you with a headset mic, they tend to leave you alone because they can see that you are part of the band and are busy. Best of luck. Still enjoying your video!

@@drummerdonniedotcom Never thought about using a wireless for a TB. Could come in handy if I’m not physically at the console. When I activate TB it shows up on channel 40 or something, then I just assigned that to local 24 where my mic was plugged in and that worked easily.

Also, if they make it as flexible as the fader layers, you may be able to fully customize and alter the functions of the buttons on the BUS, DCA, and MATRIX pages as well, not just the user page. The Fader layers are fully customizable, so you can put the channel 20 fader on the channel 1-12 layer by replacing one of the 1-12 channel strips with channel 20 instead. As far as I can tell, the only actual difference between the user fader layers and the others is that they come pre-assigned by default, and the buttons have different labels printed on them. Otherwise they are just as customizable as the user fader layers. On the full size WING I use regularly, I have fully re-mapped nearly every fader layer, so I'd honestly be surprised if that type of flexibility was missing from those buttons on the right side of the compact console.

Plenty of reasons. First - I don’t have an iPad. Second - I filmed this video about a month and a half ago, so I didn’t want people approaching the console to take pictures of it. Third - Every single app I did use on an iPad (when I had one) to mix remotely on the X32 bugged out after moving away more than 10 feet and it wasted more time than saved it. Finally - I didn’t want to leave the console unprotected in case some drunk idiot approached the stage.

5:00 one of the best features of the full sized Wing is that you're able to configure any channel or bus as stereo in the config tab. So no need for linking faders like on the X32 because the one fader will just control both inputs. Is that not a thing on the compact?
@carlosdiaz5486
7 күн бұрын
No, thats correct. Everythings still stereo, even busses
@chrishammillaudio
7 күн бұрын
It’s exactly the same as the full size. When I plug the two cables in for thr OHs and set up one of the channels as a stereo, that works, but the channel where the other cable is plugged into is now essentially a dead channel. I’d rather just have the 2 faders than one fader though.
@Bolidraws
7 күн бұрын
@@chrishammillaudio It probably helps if you think of it as the pre amp inputs just being inputs or sources as Behringer calls them and not channels just due to how the wing system is. That way you aren't necessarily thinking, "oh i have a dead channel" or something like that. I guess i never really got the feel for using two faders as i started on the wing instead of the 32. Also i do know some people actually run two mono channels fully panned out LR as stereo on the wing for more precise control over elements if you really care (Lee Bataller in one of his videos talks about an advantage to actually doing that but its very minute). Just gotta deal with manually setting levels
@JayBratton31

@@chrishammillaudio hey, I get the confusion. I said and thought the same way till I had my hands on the (full size) wing a little longer. When using the wing (full size, or compact) you have to look at channels and inputs slightly differently than before on x32. As the user above stated. one channel (fader) can control two Sources (Inputs). So if Cymbals are Input 7 and 8 on the back of the board (or digital snake), you can make channel (fader) 7 OR 8 stereo and control both Overhead left and right with One Fader(Channel). Took me some getting used to, but it saves space on your board, so more faders (channels) at your fingertips For example...lets say you have a band with two keyboards and two guitarist, and everyone wants stereo signals you can do this: Keys stereo Left and right lets say input 9-10 for main keys, 11-12 for top keyboard, 13-14 for stereo rhythm guitar and 15-16 for stereo lead guitar. you can now make the last 4 faders on right of your wing compact control those inputs. Channel 9 main keys...channel 10 top keys...channel 11 rhythm guitar....channel 12 Lead Guitar. Everything can be controlled by 4 faders(channels) instead of 8!! including processing....makes mixing sooo much easier! Just realized how long this response was lol
@chrishammillaudio
7 күн бұрын
@@JayBratton31 I get that. I have no problem with getting used to one fader for 2 inputs. Like I said already, if I use channel 3 as my stereo OH channel, channel 4, where the second xlr is plugged in, shows up as a channel associated with 3. Both channels say 3/4 stereo. I cannot use the fader on channel 4 for bass if I wanted to. Unless I’m missing some tiny detail in the routing menu. Thankfully the console allows me to easily copy all of the settings from one channel to another so if I get OH L sounding right, just copy the setting to OH R and manually set the 2 faders.
