I’ve been searching for a handgun for deeper carry. The Switch-Gun seemed to be a viable weapon for me. Despite months of deciding to spend the exorbitant price for this .22 magnum pistol, I finally took the plunge and purchased the Switch-Gun. Pros: Very compact and extremely light. Easily hidden until you need it. The .22 mag round is very deadly if you need it in a life or death situation. It’s a fun weapon to shoot! Despite not having sights, simply pointing the weapon was accurate for me. My first round was wide left, but after that, all my rounds were pretty much center mass. This little pistol packs a punch. Cons: To deploy the Switch-Pistol, the release button must be pushed down. This goes against the natural inclination or “muscle memory” to push the switch up to open the gun like one would a switchblade knife. In a stressful situation this could be deadly. In an effort to get familiar with the weapon, I practiced opening, cocking, decocking, and closing the weapon numerous times. Less than 24 hours of having this gun, it would no longer cock. I sent it back for “repairs”. I believe the cylinder was stripped due to cocking or decocking because the pistol had a “new” cylinder when returned from repair a week or so later. After firing it at the range, I continued to cock and decock the weapon. And sometimes the cylinder “hesitates” a little to turn. Keeping my eye on that. As I continued to practice (no dry firing), opening and closing the weapon, I had yet another mechanical issue. The “screw” connecting the polymer grip to the steel pistol, began to become loose. I constantly had to retighten the screw to keep it from coming out. Loctite may fixed the issue. In life or death situation a product needs to function. As a police officer, carrying the Switch-Gun as an off duty backup to my “primary backup”, would not have gone well for me if these function issues occurred in the field. For the almost $500.00 paid for the my Switch-Gun, it’s way overpriced for a poorly made (poor quality and durability) weapon. My hope is that Standard Manufacturing will make modifications to this extraordinary concept by making the Switch-Gun a viable defense weapon. For now, I am not totally confident with this weapon. Until I do, it’s just an expensive paperweight. For that, I give Three stars Michael Yates

Thanks for the great video. One thing you need a holster. It has a built in one. It would be nice to have if you were out in the country hiking and encountered a pack of aggressive dogs. Thanks again.

While I don't have a Switch-Gun (& haven't ever fired one), based on ur comments & demo, it sure looks like it'd be a great pocket gun; however, I did wanna mention that I've had an NAA .22 mag (with holster grip) for many yrs now & really like it; while somewhat different than the Switch-Gun, they both are actually quite similar in how they work, their concealability, etc

I'm familiar with the NAA .22 mag and had been considering one, but when I saw the Switch-Gun, well, I just had to get one, lol. Based on the size and design, I'll bet you're correct that they handle very similarly.

actually, the accuracy isn't too bad, all around the center of mass, that's all you need for close distance self-defense scenarios.

I 'd like to see where/how the Hornady rounds hit. Keyholing? Grouping?
@citizenpew
2 жыл бұрын
I can't believe I missed that transition in edit, I apologize for that. The grouping was pretty much the same as the second load using CCI with the target moved to the closer position. I'll look into a way to post those patterns, maybe in a follow up video or something. Thanks for pointing that out, feedback like this helps me improve the content.

@@citizenpew YW. I get curious about keyholing because with short barrels, it seems some do and some don't and with others it depends on the brand or velocity of the rounds used.
@citizenpew
2 жыл бұрын
I haven't done a lot of research on keyholing other than knowing what it is, I have heard some brands of ammo are bad at tumbling out of shorter barrels though. Thanks for bringing it up though, I'm going to have to do some research on it, maybe do a video.

Would it really be that hard to make it a double action? Also, do you think its not that accurate beccause of the short barrel? is so, maybe a little longer barrel would make it more accurate.
@citizenpew
9 ай бұрын
The short barrel definitely makes this a close range firearm, accuracy past about 5 feet is out the window, which I think is what it was designed for, in the video I should have shown some close range patterns. As small as it is I'm guessing double action wasn't in the cards without significant cost. This definitely isn't a primary carry IMO but a small compact backup or bag gun. Thanks for watching!
