Even UK has theoretically recognised and accepted metric units. I wonder why british and us clock are running like all others, there must be some bug ! Ha Ha ! By the way, the actual maximal speed for TGV in France is 320 km/h (approx 198 Mph)

Many European locomotives have circular controller to adjust power output. Alstom locomotives and especially TGVs up to Réseau / Thalys PBA use that "wheel" for both power output regulation but also for dynamic brake. Underneath is smaller lever which selects operation mode (In France they call it F-0-T). See function list below. So for instance if you are in traction mode and you turn wheel, you add more power, if you are in dynamic brake mode, you adjust braking force without using air brake (however dynamic brake will engage automatically if brake cylinder pressure increase is registred) F = Freinage / Dynamic braking 0 = Neutral (Required to change reverser position) T = Traction (Manual power regulation) Cruise control setup speed range

The irony of this videoed display is the driver/engineer even bothering to watch the track ahead. At 300 kph, anything in the path of the train would be annihilated within seconds, hardly time to apply the brakes.
