Well said. Keith Jarrett's music has been my companion since 1968, I have been to five live concerts of Keith, solo and with Gary Peacock (R.I.P.) and Jack de Johnette. Difficult to imagine my life without his music.

I really can't even think that Keith will never play again. I strongly believe that Kieth is in a category all by himself. The piano is a tall mountain, and we all know the few at the very top. But Keith hovers above the peak. This man is so special, so magical that you are changed forever upon hearing him. As complex as music is, often times, the simplest ideas and concepts are the most profound. A simple Monk solo appears simple, but its the exact opposite. Its not long phrases, quick runs, even complicated counterpoint, no it's the human condition, humanity. Try playing that for a change. Try bringing down a grown man to tears. Try moving the most discerning and cynical audience member and render them silent, unable to speak. Keith did it every night on stage. And he would always say that he never knew what he was going to play before walking out. He let the ideas just come into his being, and then played. You can listen to any of his masterpiece recordings hundreds of times and always discover something new. You can do that with Bach too. Keiths playing always made you feel better about life, it gave you hope, it brought you joy. So, I'll wait for him to announce his comeback tour. Remember Horowitz left the concert stage for 12 years, and came back to which many said he was even better than before. So yea, I'll wait.

Thank you very much !

thank you for sharing this information, Leonardo. I wasn't aware it has happened. Chronic fatigue had plagued Keith and that is likely of viral origin. Now with coronavirus attacking the brain a flame fights hard against extinction. All best wishes to Keith, he has enormously enriched the lives of thousands and will be held dear by future generations for his indomitable spirit! Incredible beauty can be found in each breath, in each tone that the finger can still create. You are not alone.

Adoro a Keith Jarret. Nunca existirá un pianista de su sensibilidad. Su música es un don, un regalo absoluto a la humanidad. Un prodigio de belleza inconmensurable. No tengo palabras para agradecer su existencia y lo que significa para mí su música.

Keith perfomed at Oberlin College in Ohio in 1973. I was already a huge fan. I was staying at the same hotel as he & his trio. While walking down a hall in the hotel I passed by a room with an open door. I looked in, and there he was, sitting in a chair, in plain sight. I acually froze. I was young. And then we exchanged glances and a brief word. An unforgetable encoumter. BTW the perfomance was magic, as you can imagine.

My God. I can feel Bess's pain and anguish. Where will she go and do if Sporting Life has a chance to tempt and manipulate her. She ready knows her fate, in her heart and mind - she has weakened over the years and it's taken its told. Keith's rendition tells us that she wishes with all she has left- that she could and would stay with Porgy and try to have something resembling love and a roof over her head. I love hearing Keith play this piece and because of his interpretation I finally understand the tragedy of Bess and Porgy. Brilliant Mr. JARRETT- you music will live in this world for future generations. Thank you. 😊

Gary's loss is an unbridgeable mourning, that of Keith, an endless tragedy, a true prelude to death. His music will never die though and I shall thank him infinitely for that.
