I got this years mountain twin but in the next year or two I think I am going to go for a flagship. Mountain twin is super fun but the faster you go the sketchier it gets in the midwest. Im thinking if I head back to the mountains I'll need something for the steep and deep. Not that it's really my forte' but sometimes you take a wrong turn and have to get down something out of your skill level. High speed, tight trees, etc. What would you do for a second quiver board for mountain resort? I love the blue squares but cant turn down a good pow double black run either. Been boarding for over ten years but usually get to go less than 5 times a year.

I haven’t even taken this board out to rip out west and I know I’m gonna love it, but I need to explain why first. I’m 5’7 160 size 9 boot and in the past I rode a t rice pro 153 (lol way too small) w cheap bindings (burton mission) and horrible clown shoe boots. I was able to bomb somewhat decently all things considered but always felt my gear was holding me back/was undersized. I absolutely love ripping resort groomers, hitting the pow in natural terrain and I don’t really care much for park so the flagship seemed like the perfect pick for me. I bought the 158 and paired it with mercury bindings and ride insano boots so I have maximum edge control and can feel what’s going on under my feet - a far cry from the bad tactile feedback that comes from thick and oversized boots with mediocre bindings. I’ll either live to ride another day or die shredding at this point, thanks for your succinct reviews and the passion you put into your commentary 🤝

Pretty much sold on the flagship as my first daily resort driver, I avoid groomers and hunt for off-piste features to pop off. Boarding in NZ so powder is scarce but if there's untouched lines to be had I will put the board on my back and hike to them. Since conditions here are mostly hard packed / icy snow, variable conditions, shredded up busy mountain with lots of bumps and moguls I need something with a solid edge hold. Need stability and dampness over pop or playful. Something that can plow through crud. I like freeride big mountain, off-piste, powder pocket hunting, rock drops, fence line shreds, side hits. Once on the groomer and running out a couple of big carves or pointing the nose straight down and going fast. Don't care for riding switch, buttering or jibbing Advanced rider with US 8/8.5 boots / Weight 75kg would probs take the 154. Reckon I'm on the money? Current board (learned on and never changed) is a 2008/9 Burton Malolo which I absolutely love.
