I think The Fall Guy has the potential to really climb the ranks due to its early release and riding the Gosling wave. It's an action movie. It's a comedy. It's a date movie. I think it could channel similar Top Gun Maverick energy (obviously not to the Maverick extent, but the ceiling for this one could be sneaky high).

Can't help but notice the last time Jeff put a film at number 8 despite saying it would probably be his favorite movie of the summer, it was Top Gun: Maverick and that ended up being one of the biggest movies ever made.

Love these episodes as always, but have a few notes. - Y'all are seriously underestimating TWISTERS. This could be the TOP GUN MAVERICK of the Summer Box Office and I strongly disagree with the INDEPENDENCE DAY comparison. We've got a good director, a strong cast and a story that for once doesn't revolve around superheroes and features relatable, salt-of-the-earth protagonists, something that brings out crowds that don't normally go to the movies. - Jeff's right, DESPICABLE ME 4 will CRUSH. And we are dead as a society, INSIDE OUT 2 is a much riskier play. It'll make money, but anything Pixar is a big gamble at this juncture. - BORDERLANDS is the poster child for the Dark Horse category. Could be an insane flop, or could break out in a GUARDIANS type of way, also given that video game adaptations seem to be in-vogue, it's smart to have it in the 11-13 space - No way BAD BOYS cracks the top 3. Dave, you've lost your mind. - Seriously concerned that FURIOSA could be a relative flop. Smart to have it towards the bottom of the top ten. - APES will be top 5 by default. I think it'll do better than WAR, but not as good as DAWN - FALL GUY will underperform - GARFIELD will overperform and we'll all be kicking ourselves in hindsight for not placing it higher or at all - No R-rated film has ever topped PASSION domestically, DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE might, but this isn't the clear #1 that so many claim it to be. Anyway, that's all. Thanks for another entertaining wager.

I don't think Fury Road is some film twitter underrated darling anymore. you can see them doing visual spoofs of it in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer for crying out loud. Also I may be cynical but I think the ravenous Joseph Quinn love was a thing that burned bright but died fast and every studio is gonna pay for it by thinking they can bank off of stale Eddie Munson juice by casting him.

Wth is BJ talking about when she says Horizon being on the top 10 would be a dangerous precedent? It's just a western epic which is something that is enjoyed by people from all sides of the political spectrum, it's not hurting anybody. Talking about it in the same breath as The Sound Of Freedom is insane. If all these annoying radlibs would put as much energy into caring about the real dangers in the world instead of these manufactured non-issues maybe we'd actually solve some real problems.

I am not the person BJ is referring to when she is casting all her aspersions but I hate when they bring politics into a show I go to for lighthearted entertainment. Watching Yellowstone or Sound of Freedsom is hardly grounds for be calling names. So people who like Sound of Freedom are psychos, BJ? I haven't even watched the movie but referring to an entire group of people as psychos for liking a movie is a bit much don't you think? There's always someone that has to bring politics into the mix. It's sad really.

The conservative audience has shown that it has $150 million buying power. IF Horizon is at least "good", and if it doesn't have any sort of aggressive progressive narrative, then Horizon will do $150 million MORE than what anyone expects. Conservatives will determine the hits. When they stay home, movies tank. That's just the reality of modern box office. With this in mind, Garfield could potentially do much much better than expected. I think we also are underestimating John Krasinki's appeal, and I think IF could do much better (assuming it's at least "good") than expected.
