This generation of Acura’s three-row MDX crossover has been around since 2021 so for 2025, the brand is giving it a refresh. Let’s take a look!
Acura’s MDX is the most popular luxury three-row SUV on the market, but for 2025 the brand isn’t resting on its laurels. It’s given this MDX some key updates to the exterior, some choice new tech on the inside, plus some impressive hands-free driving capabilities. Will they be enough to keep the MDX at the top of the heap? Let’s take a look at the highlights.
Exterior:
Up front the facia has been redesigned with a more aggressive mesh pattern, while the headlights and taillights are now darkened a bit. On the base MDX model, you get new 20-inch alloy wheels; on the more powerful MDX Type S version, you get redesigned 21-inch wheels. The Type S also a more aggressive rear diffuser, larger quad exhaust outlets and red Brembo front brake calipers.
Powertrains:
The base MDX still comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with either FWD or Acura’s SH-AWD, plus a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The more powerful MDX Type S also carries over, offering a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 with 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. It too has a 10-speed auto and SH-AWD.
Interior:
All 2025 MDX models now come with a redesigned touchscreen infotainment system. The new 12.3-inch display uses Google Built in, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Below it, the console has been redesigned to give you more storage options and better access to the wireless smartphone charging.
Plus, audiophiles can rejoice: the 2025 MDX Type S will offer a 31-speaker Bang & Olufson sound system…including 12 speakers mounted in the headliner. There’s also an 8.8-inch subwoofer, two amps and 24 channels of power. Most of the rest of the MDX lineup also gets a Bang & Olufsen system…a 19-speaker setup with four of those mounted in the headliner.
Then there are other upgrades worth mentioning. Base MDX models with certain trims get 16-way leather front seats with nine-way massaging functions for the first time, while the Type S models get Ultrasuede bolsters and 'Type S' embossed headrests; plus most trims will add additional laminated glass and sound deadening for better noise isolation.
Hands-free capabilities:
On the more powerful MDX Type S with the Advance Package, drivers now get more robust driver-assist capabilities. The updated AcuraWatch 360 system adds new radar sensors at the front of the MDX and all four corners, giving it automatic lane-change capabilities when you have the adaptive cruise control engaged. The system will also redirect the vehicle back into its lane if the driver begins to turn into an occupied lane of traffic.
Ok folks, there you have it, the key upgrades Acura has made to its MDX three row luxury crossover for 2025.
