This is a brilliant video ! You explain the technique so well. Ice dancers do " feet together " choctaws in some of the compulsory dances, except for the Rhumba where the feet must be wide apart. For the mandatory " feet together " choctaws we use body lean and/or rotation in order to maintain the curve.

This was one of your best videos in my opinion because 1. You personally showed us the technique and your toe point on your free leg was splendid! We need more toe points in my opinion. 2. You put your physics knowledge into the explanation, which helped me understand better. Well done!

Thanks. Yeah, it helps to be intimately familiar with a subject. And those laws of physics are inviolable, right!

Goodmorning sir , may I know what is the name of the transition @5:00 ? It appears you are executing back inside edge via counterclockwise crossovers to RIGHT outside edge with free leg swinging past your right leg

Hi. That transition is a common type of Choctaw that I use to enter into my clockwise spins.

Lol I noticed the black thing too! There was about 10 of us practicing and we were all wearing full black 😂 idk what it is

...and apparently it is not even conscious, Abby. We just instinctively copy each other, or something. It is not a fad, either. Black has been the figure skating colour since I can remember decades ago.

@@GaryBeacom-FigureSkater That’s so interesting! I know personally I prefer to wear black because it doesn’t show sweat stains, maybe that’s a similar reason for other skaters.

I love choctaws- in dance and freestyle. Your forward inside with legs apart are textbook and i have to study that twist you are doing. Some serious edge work there. But what about your blues choctaw? I get my feet very close, boots rubbing sometimes, on that one. And you were talking about no push on the leg change, on my forward outside, when I slide the free blade (and twist) behind the skating blade (and the blades are close, occasionally clanging), I can get a (mini) push as the skating feet change. I actually hang the (now) free skate open and lift it as if to serve a glass of ....... as I circle back inside

Hi Joe, thanks for feedback. The twist will be a subject of a future video as well, because how it is coordinated is as important as the actual action. I practice most-efficient and robotic basics and then adorn them as required for expression and choreographic interest. Yes, one must generate speed on most changes of foot, but it is more difficult with that closed leg style.

Thanks, Sporty one. Yes, and excellent suggestion. I could do it in ten minutes from now if I had a little more than a full moon for lighting on the lake here in Quebec.
