Nice to see the prado again. We have a vzj95. Replaced the ball joints with toyota ones. Replaced steering bushes with the one from energy suspension. I like your maintenance tips. Frame and suspension is similar to a 3rd gen 4runner, so many parts are still available.
@TheUntraveledPath
2 жыл бұрын
You will see more of it for sure. Yep, if the suspensio Is maintained these vehicles are great. Also, with the 3rd gen 4runner the Prado is pretty much identical. Same issue with ball joints, same petrol engines and many other parts. So, if you are looking for suspension upgrades you can shop for 3rd gen 4runner parts which are more widely available than those for the Prado.

Had the same issue after 340.000km and 25 years. Shocks were still OK but it hitted the bumpstops too quickly and it flexed less good. After some research opted for an ARB OME +150kg set. (front + rear springs and shocks). From what I understood it is important not to choose a too high rating if you want to keep a comfy ride and keep some flex. The wheels should stick to the ground after all. Only +150kg seems to be OK in our case (DIY plywood drawer system, roof top tent). It rides like new, firmer but still very comfy.

It is hard to tell what it is from here. The vibration may be your uni joints and the clunck can be stabilizers or warn out bushings. Best thing to do is take it for a look up.

The 3rd row seats fold down and connect into a bench seat. It has 3 seat belts back there so you can fit 3 people. They will be really snug though. So you can fit 8 legally but they won't be comfortable

Very nice! I've had a 2002 J90 for just over a year now, and despite a couple of minor issues it's been fantastic, i love it. Only problem is I'm very close to the sea and constantly battling rust especially on her belly. Just put all new exhaust on and 4 new tyres and it's smooth on the road but looking at doing some front suspension work in the near future.. many thanks for the tips.
