To be honest it's one of the best reviews on mITX cases out here. I watched a lot of fancy builds, but none provided such detailed instructions, hints and warnings how to do this properly. Where more popular channells focused on the fancy recording state of things, you've focused on what's important first with good visuals too. Great work. Sub from me and keep up the good work!

I've recently built in this case - i agree with a a fair few of your points, i thought I'd re-iterate some of the worst areas and how i managed to solve the problems for anyone interested GPU Install - Marduk pointed out the small hole near the bottom of the spine on that links both halves of the case, yes put your GPU cables through here but don't feed the entire length through and then push the cables back down, you end up pushing your GPU away from the spine doing this and flexing it - take the slack back through to the PSU shroud area and try and minimize how far the cables 'stick up' near the fans and how much slack you have to deal with behind the card. SSD Install - Some SSD's like Kingston (i have these too) will be upside down - nature of the beast with this area, it isn't great with the amount of space you have left - all i can say is pick the shortest SATA cables you can still reach your motherboard with (i.e. not excessively long) and pre train your SATA cables to reach this area. PSU Area - Really (and i mean really realy) spend some time getting this as tidy and as tucked up as you can - there is a some potential for hiding SATA cables and excess fan cables amongst other bits in this area and if you sling everything in you are going to have a bad time trying to slowly feed cables into their hiding spots and you will end up having to tear it out and re-do it like i did 4.5 times Fans & Cables - pre ziptie your fan cables together and plan out proper runs for them (even harder if they are ARGB) - also think about the positioning of where the wires exit the fans - orient them so that the cables pop out on the same side and make taught runs using zip ties to keep the cables together. I would recommend putting 2 fans in the bottom to aid in the airflow path that Jonsbo designed here - the idea is to obviously push air through the case bottom to top , not putting 2 fans at the bottom really hampers performance of cooling - there is some nice spacing to hide the cables in between the two bottom fans if you install them and even with RGB on this area inbetween is a dark area so can get away with a little bit of wire mess here and not have to think about it Or use Unifans if you want the easy way out - you will pay for it though CPU Power - I ran this from the PSU area -> down -> along the bottom of the case in the motherboard half. Then i trained the cable to sit along the bottom (use zip ties if necessary to keep this one out of the way) AIO - 71mm is the absolute maximum cooler height - AIO most certainly recommended due to itx VRM spacing limiting air cooler choice and that further limitation on cooler height - you found an AIO that was too tall, damn - i have a Deepcool Gammax L240 V2 and that fits everything just so. All in all i am enjoying the case - it's small, it looks great and i eventually got mine to look tidy and i am satisfied with the performance of cooling - i will say that this build requires a lot of 'multitasking' to get right - and by that i mean having to feed cables to their destinations at roughly the same time and such because when you screw down that PSU area - you don't have much access or insight into where cables then lie - so it's best to get it all roughly in place before finally screwing that PSU shroud to the spine. But for anyone looking for a tidy build - please please expect to be putting 6-8 hours into building in this thing, planning cable runs, hiding cable runs and such, hope i shed some more insight.

So i ran this case in two configurations before moving out of it: 1) AIO for CPU & GPU on air - this resulted in roughly 70c max load with a R5 5600X & my 6900XT GPU temps were in the high 80's on air (the glass panel really hurts here..) 2) fully watercooled - still similar temps on the CPU, GPU was a bit cooler but this quickly ran away and became uncontrollable - a 240mm radiatior is NOT enough to cool a CPU and GPU and have reasonable fan speeds, the case does not have any support for another 240mm rad at the bottom either, this is a no go and its the reason i came out of the case.@@sobangcha3042

Highly recommend people to route cables through the corners of the case(both top and bottom have decent space on either side) and if you have fans on the bottom there's a good amount of space between both fans and around them overall. Much better having the PCIe power cables for the GPU to go through the bottom right corner than through that hole. If you're not using those channels properly for routing cables your cable management is going to be bad. And this build isn't even putting fans on the bottom like I have and I have an even bigger GPU than this. The case does have it's flaws and can be hard to build for beginners but there's a lot you can with cable management. But yeah, overall, just a few touches and an option for mesh side panels and this case would easily be one of the best in its class(13-16L)

Great video and review - thanks for going through in detail all the pain points with this build. I'm curious, I actually ordered this case in dark grey thru NewEgg, and the marketplace seller sent silver - same issue you had - did you ever get a dark grey case or have you seen one in the wild? Curious if its a supply issue or it doesn't actually exist. I sent mine back for the correct color, but communication with the China based seller has been lacking and I'm worried they are just gonna send another silver case. Either way looking forward to the build - my first in 10 years. Any other thoughts or tips on this case would be welcome.

Great Video! I built in this a couple of weeks ago. I started with only the 2 fans (on the rad) in my build and the gpu temps were honestly pathetic (82 degrees), however after adding the 2 fans at the bottom, it made a difference of about 8 degrees, on average. Thankfully, I have the Fractal S24, which has a fan controller on the rad, which left the fan headers on my board open. Also, the barrow pump will not fit as, even with low profile right angle fittings, it would be 1mm too big. The Apogee Drive 2 will just fit, with the low profile right angle fittings. TBH, I would 100% buy this again, it's absolutely beautiful and the build quality is perfect, but yeah, the price is a bit steep. Are you getting usb 3 speeds from the usb c port in the front? Mine seems to be topping out at usb 2.0 speeds :/
@digispa
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! A rad with a fun hub sounds clutch for this build. I think there might be 2 scenarios where the barrow pump would fit ( based only on measurements and not me testing) 1 is using Koolance low-profile right angle adapter and a 12mm or 3/8-1/2OD soft tube fitting. I think this would be touching the glass but should fit. The other possible way is to use the Barrow 15mm offset adapter and switch the plug from the side to the top. This would be highly dependent on the side hole being G1/4, so that may not even work. I'm using a B450 board for this review so no front panel type c for me. That's seems bunk that you're getting such slow speeds tho.

The kraken x52 will fit on the top. The thickness will not be a problem. Make sure to use the direct mounting method from the manual when you install it. It's cramped if you decide to put fans on the bottom. BUT, I do have 25mm fans on the bottom and a SFX-L PSU and managed to fit everything. There are several options though to make it easier. Custom PSU cables can make this FAR easier(I'm using custom cables but ran with the stock PSU cables for 2 months without issues with the bottom fan). 15mm fan below the PSU will give you more space as well. There’s actually a better, slightly bigger version of this same layout from Jonsbo, the V10. It has better clearance for GPUs, for top and bottom radiators and supports ATX PSUs, along with CPU coolers up to 70mm. I was looking at the A4 myself but I could foresee the issues you had: the V10 basically solves everything.
@digispa
3 жыл бұрын
I saw the V10 after I had the A4 in my hands. The clearance does look better and the ATX PSU is nice, but at only 150mm length, that doesn't leave a lot of options. But I guess some are better than none. Can you really fit two 240mm rads in there? Still seems too tight for that.
@valensi1988
3 жыл бұрын
@@digispa It looks possible using slim rads (like Alphacool and EK slim series) and low profile fans (like Noctua NF12 X15), of course custom loop since AIO cooling leaves you with no choice of thicknesses. Sure, it’s tight but SFF builds are both compromise and challenge, and in the end it does look amazing when everything barely fits together. I am going with the V10 as soon as it’s available in Europe.

@@digispa I have the A4 as well and it is a beautiful case but was looking for something like the V10 (the full aluminium version) because I'm not into glass panels but unfortunately the V10 wasn't released at the time. Like others have said already, adding bottom fans as intake decreases the overall temperature of the GPU by 5 to 6 degrees and is better for the "chimney" airflow design of the case. I have encountered less issue with cable management mainly due to the fact that the cables of my power supply are braided. That really helps a lot but it remains a tricky case to work in. In the end I have ordered the V10 through AliExpress because I do want the vented side panels. Including shipping I've paid around 100€ which is a great price since I have no idea when it will become available in Europe and don't want to wait. It should arrive any day now!

Harsh but yeah. There's actually many options for routing cables in this case. My case looks far cleaner and I have a bigger GPU, a SFX-L PSU and two fans on the bottom. There's tons of space in the corners. And even with fans in the bottom there's tons of space around those. You just have to think it through and plan the build. And use lots of cable ties. LOTS. You really can't build it like an ATX and cable manage after putting in the motherboard or GPU. I'd say that's true for pretty much all SFF builds. I'd argue this case does have flaws, but cable management is something I was somewhat surprised with. My first build didn't go so well(still better than this), but I rebuilt it, planned ahead and it was actually easy to build in.
