Just came across this and it helped a lot in the project i am required to make, I tried calling that as an component and it works indiidually, but wouldn't work when i try to call it in a flatlist, any idea how i can fix that, Thanks, just a newbie here.

Hi Karan, we are all newbies so don't be ashamed at all! I understand the functionality you are talking about and It isn't easy to achieve on both platform (iOS & Android). Instead the solution to your problem is really simple if the functionality is needed just on iOS. In fact in that case you can enable the pinchGestureEnabled prop from FlatList/ScrollView (reactnative.dev/docs/scrollview#pinchgestureenabled-ios ). Unfortunately, I'm guessing you'll most likely need to implement the functionality on both platforms. In that case I would advise to don't build the PinchGestureHandler on top of the FlatList (because easily there would be conflicts between gestures). Instead I recommend you to build from scratch a ScrollView with a PanGestureHandler (it is not difficult, I made a video that can help you kzitem.info/news/bejne/p5prrIuusWmUZ20 ) and place the PinchGestureHandler above the ScrollView.

Thank you for going over the basics of which packages you are using and the small, but very important, step of babel config - not just with this video but all of them in your series. Seems like a small thing but I would bet you are saving time for a lot of people.

Thank you for the wonderful introduction of pinch gesture handler. do you have session about pan and pinch gesture handler (version 2.x ) working together with react-native-reanimated 2? This is a much more advanced topic and there would be more devs interesting in it. Many thanks.

I've been trying to get basic text zoomable with a pinch gesture in React Native using react-native-gesture-handler but having no luck. I've wrapped the of the app in as indicated by the docs but does not work in Android and iOS simulators.

Hi Vincent, in the useAnimatedStyle hook probably you have some code like like this one: "{ translateX: translateX.value }" Try to swap the sign like that: "{ translateX: -translateX.value }".
@cryptoknight7256

@@Reactiive Thanks for your suggestion. Yes, I tried that and it kinda works (direction wise). However, the focalPointStyle is no longer accurate.

try wrapping all your components with GestureHandlerRootView. For android animated components (children) need to be in GestureHandlerRootView (parent)
