Corniche has some of the best designs in the entire industry, even if not super original, their limited edition is amazing. From a horological point of view the choice of mecha is reasonable but I'd still prefer an automatic non chrono 3 hander.

When I saw the Patek Philippe 5170, I got mesmerize by the style. But I am not going to spend that huge amount of money for a watch, so I've been looking for an alternative for quite some time. Finally, I came across this and decided to pull the trigger because the movement is by Seiko. It did not disappoint me because it looks like the 5170 and it looks expensive on my wrist. I even tried the Chrono24 watch scanner app and it fooled the scanner to think that it's a Patek Philippe. I'm hesitant at first because it's a Quartz movement, but I found out that there is no Second Hand, so you won't be able to tell if it's a quartz

It’d be an absolute winner with a mechanical three hander Seiko movement and perhaps a double date window.

Nearly pulled the trigger on a Dan Henry which I think uses the same movement. This Corniche is more expensive but seemingly more attractive. Worth the extra in your opinion? Btw excellent review well photographed very comprehensive and enjoyable to watch. Great job.

Dean Noble thank you! Which Dan Henry are you thinking of? If it’s the 1964 I’d say either are an awesome choice.

These are down to £280 in the uk! Which. Think is amazing for what you get 👌🏼

I agree it’s very classy indeed. Got to admit I have never heard of Corniche before, although it helps that it was a convertible model of a Rolls Royce! Shame it’s not a full auto or manual wind but then it would cost considerably more and be a lot thicker too. A good effort though, the wobbly pushers don’t do it any favours either. Nice, but is it nice enough for the money? Can’t help but think the box might of contributed to at least £50 of the cost when a leatherette zipped travel case would of been a lot cheaper and useful too!

Mark Playford very interesting idea, replacing the box with a smaller travel case. And yes a mechanical chronograph would be seriously amazing 😍

Beautiful watch and at a great price. Recently, I have been buying meca-quartz. The deal breaker for me is the size. I would have preferred a 42mm. Oh well, maybe next time.

41 mm would be my preference. Overall, it is a very beautiful watch. I also like meca-quartz movements.

Nice close up, but it dioes reveal why Omegas and Rolex cost so much.. Close ups are perfect and there are no machining evidence on the high end watches ! Love this one though!

Could anyone help me choose between one of these and an SKX 013? Please.

It all depends on what you are planning to use the watch for. If you want a watch which you can use every day and not worry about, go for the SKX. If you get the Corniche, it relies on you to take better care of the watch due to the polished finish, and the purpose of the watch. It is a more "dressy" watch, and you have to be a little more careful with what you do with it. Also the SKX is water resistant to 200m, the Corniche only goes down to 50m, which only is good for washing your hands, don't go swimming with it. That being said, the Corniche is absolutely gorgeous, and i really want one myself. I have worn the SKX007 for nearly 6 months now, switching it between my TAG. I, alongside many others, am very pleased with the SKX and the reliability of Seiko. Its a tough choice, but it all comes down to what you are planning to do with the watch. Good luck!

Damien Cloros in all honesty, most likely in China. But don’t let that deter you as even some parts of “Swiss Made” watches are manufactured there

It's a really nice but overpriced watch imho. I've used to buy Swiss watches at around $1K price range, but recently Chinese with Seiko movement dropped the price newertheless quite good for day-to-day use.

@@numafc No. The VK64 movement does not include a running seconds hand. Maybe you took me to mean the the seconds indicator on the chronograph function? I'm sorry I didn't make myself clearer if this is the case.
