The five smaller bells of the main church in Rho (Milan, Italy) ring out to announce Mass during the week. The nine beautiful bells were cast in two stages: the six original bells were cast in Milan by the Felice Bizzozero foundry in 1850, while the three smaller bells were added by Roberto Mazzola in 1962 when the restoration work was done on the Bell tower. The concert of bells is played on the diatonic scale of C major. In this video there is also the ringing of a small, rarely used bell, cast following an ancient shape.
The church of San Vittore was built in the tenth century on the area of an ancient building from the year 600. The entrance to the ancient main church was located on the opposite side, in front of a huge cemetery. The parish of San Vittore obtained the title of main church in 1398 and was restored for the first time in 1596. In the nineteenth century the church was so small that its boss decided to tear it down and rebuild it from scratch, changing the orientation of the facade. The new parish church was built in neoclassical style starting from 14 September 1834; the first project included two twin 34-metre bell towers. Six new bells were placed on the right bell tower in 1850, while the church was only consecrated on November 7, 1880. In 1889 the left bell tower was demolished and the right tower was reinforced and raised up to its current 58 metres. At the beginning of the twentieth century the church was enriched with numerous paintings by David Beghè, author of many churches in Milan. The main organ is built above the entrance door and was inaugurated in 1895, accompanying the famous musical chapel of the Pueri Cantores.
