The Boys in the Valley was truly amazing, well The Exorcist is my all time favorite book. Small town Horror....YES!!!! He went there and I appreciate his boldness and ability to seamlessly round out his new novel. Not sure if you've read All the Sinners Bleed and The Reformatory...they're life changing.

What a solid list! I was happy to see that I had read most of these but that you mentioned several I hadn't. The TBR grows! If you loved Boys in the Valley, you should most definitely read Don't Let Them Get You Down by Philip Fracassi. I actually enjoyed that one even more.

I have been reading TONS of Darcy Coates this year. She's such an amazing writer. Kinda YA but still awesome- her recent Where He Can't Find You is really good for a soul cleansing chills read.

Great round-up of books - thanks for the video. My 5 star Horror Reads, so far this year: Revelator, by Daryl Gregory The Lonely Lands, by Ramsey Campbell The Sorrows of Satan, by Marie Corelli (an oldie, 1895!) Other 5 star reads for me this year, that I think are worth mentioning to a Horror fan: Prairie Edge, by Conor Kerr The Magicians, by J. B. Priestley (from 1954) Honourable Mention - some pure 1980s Horror: Night Stone, by Rick Hautala

Not sure if youve talked about this one yet but I'd love to see a video on Augustina Bazterrica, Tender is the Flesh and Nineteen Claws and a Blackbird are some of my favorite horror books. Also editing to add in the book Brother by Ania Ahlborn, i think its a sightly more tame variation of your general brand of fucked up, very very good.

I'm not sure if you have read these books, but if you haven't you should check them out. They have been my favorite reads this year. I didn't see them on your goodreads (except for the last one) Penance by Kanae Minato/Philip Gabriel In The Tall Trees by Angel N. Van Atta Brother by Ania Ahlborn Come Closer by Sara Gran and Tender is the flesh. I know you said that you really liked this book. So did I, it was so good

I really liked The Necrophiliac. I listened to The Cement Garden on audio and…well I think I should have read it instead. I didn’t really enjoy it and I think that was due to the narration. 😟 Looking forward to reading Boys in the Valley!
