2:40 the line that basically describes the inner truth of the psychopath that is Louis Bloom, we see his true self shown by himself, his real drive and the intentions behind his actions are all truly summarized by this single line. He doesn't see humans as humans but as objects that can be gamed and utilized for his own advantage, even though he is a human himself he feels alienated and tired through the constant emulation and copying of other people's emotions to navigate them and climb up. However in this very moment he realizes that he can no longer manipulate Ali, or he placed his bets on him being partly honest to Ali by showing his terrifying side to him would incite fear. One can only guess why he actually said this line, because its so crucial and vulnerable and would shatter his own fake persona that he actually cares for people. Maybe he was frustrated and out of plans or he knew exactly what would intimidate Ali.

I mean when it comes to guns it is there’s no cover a bullet will go through a car like butter if it doesn’t hit the engine and there’s nowhere for you to take cover cops call it the death trap for a reason

We should celebrate assholes because the difference between the asshole and the psychopath is the asshole is at least being honest. He or she doesn't like you and tells you upfront they don't like you so you know exactly what you're dealing with from the very beginning.

I guess they have to make sure its the right guys. You simply can not initiate the chase, not knowing who or where the guys are at the moment

That's my one big problem with this otherwise awesome movie. Lou didn't really cause the shootout. He could have been an innocent person/witness calling the cops with honest intentions and it would have played out the same way. Him mentioning a gun should have made them more careful, not more bold.
