In the same situation here in Sweden, a high power flashlight can be seriously useful as a defense tool. I had a few Olights previously but most recently I got a Klarus XT2C (1100 lumen) and is very pleased with it. One thing that got me sold on that model was that it has a separate button for the strobe. So you always have a direct access to instant strobe (no double click, no long hold etc).
@Weaponsandstuff93
6 жыл бұрын
That's pretty cool, my 10,000 lumen light arrived today but I expect it is actually around 5,000 lumens, and that has a single button for high, tap again for low, tap again for off, or hold for 1 second for the strobe from any mode. I like it a lot and will get a video done on it at some point.

Some flashlights are legally flashlights, but in real life are big metal clubs with a bulb on one end, an extreme example is the maglite 6D. Some private security guys that cant legally carry clubs use 4C maglites. I personally think that blinding the bad guy and then running away is a far better option than carring a heavy club around, but flashlights can be a blunt weapon.
@Weaponsandstuff93

Yeah there are actual self-defence flashlights as well but I bet if you used one in the UK they would do you for it. Basically a baton with a bright LED in it, so like a Maglite but actually designed for hitting over and over.

Warm LED is just a blue LED with a yellow filter over it, so yes you want the blue, which simulates daylight and will shut down the night vision more effectively than a yellow light. If you are on the receiving end of bright light, when driving or whatever, use an army trick, NEVER close both eyes, but close only one eye so that you can still function. Night vision operates on each eye independently, so when you escape the light, or it passes by, you can open the preserved eye and it will have its night vision intact. Your pupils will actually be completely different sizes, but your brain will pick the most useful eye as the dominant image. Try to refine this technique even further by training yourself to close your good eye instead of your less dominant one. Think in terms of letting your weak eye take the hit.

You are absolutely legally "allowed" to use self-defence in the UK, you are even allowed to pre-emptively strike should you feel there is a legitimate threat. What we are not allowed to do is carry ANY item that is intended to be used for self defence. If you are caught with a prohibited weapon then you are deffo in trouble, however if you are carrying something like a flashlight then you are ok, however i will reiterate never to tell anyone (and certainly not the police) that you carry it for such a purpose.

Around here in Switzerland, you can have a pepper spray without licence and you can carry it on you without problem. You can own Cs sprays but you need a weapon owner and carry licence. For pepper spray you need to be 18 to buy them and you'll be instructed in how to use them, store them and how to throw em away correctly. I think you can even carry knives to certain lengths.. Or a katana because it isn't a weapon in the eyes of our laws. And guns if you have a carry license.

It doesn't hurt, it just blinds; the attacker is still capable of beating you up. The best LEGAL thing to do is to go to gym and go to boxing lessons and get capable of fighting.

Good luck doing that in the UK and having to pay compensation to the criminal for the rest of your life, I'm not saying you're wrong but I'm talking about LEGAL methods here.

Jan Bojarski but didn’t you hear? Guns are illegal in the uk so criminals can’t hurt you.
