I don’t have a partner in real life and I totally relate to her saying that she has always taken care of others and it’s hard to do the same for your self but it’s so important...I’d say that my favorite KZitem channels are my biggest support. I’ve immersed myself into the the whole community and it’s extremely helpful to me.

I don't think it's the best idea to tell someone they are "headed for failure" at any time. I didn't have a support group, and i lost 76 pounds on keto. I can't believe you'd say this.

2 years ago I got to my goal weight and got rid of almost all of my inflammation by changing to a keto lifestyle. Maintaining the lifestyle continues to be a daily decision and sometimes a big challenge from the emotional eater, sugar addict part of me. Finding people who support this way of life and are positive about it keeps me going! That along with the knowledge that this is the best way for me to live my life and do my best. Thank you ladies!!!

Thank you. I have been a SMART Recovery meeting facilitator since Oct. 2013. Many of the concepts and language you used in this video are used in SMART meetings as well. Non-shaming language is crucial and we practice using a different set of words - getting rid of have to, must/must not, have to/can't, and should/shouldn't for example and using words like want, hope, and wish to address our current and anticipated behavior. We look for the deep messages we agreed to from our formative years. We learn to look at unrealistic and/or irrational expectations (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy). Glad you are forming groups and helping them to be self-sustaining through modeling the wanted behavior and language. I am enjoying these videos.

I'm one of your avid followers, watch all your videos, recommend you to others and have both of your books. I follow a fairly strict Keto diet and was wondering if these numbers: glucose 59 & ketones 4.6, are something to be proud of or worried about. I took these readings after an 18 hour fast and a moderate workout, resistant training, at the local Y.

Silly question. When you fast BG goes down Ketones go up. Exercise does the same. You know that already so why the attention seeking.
@kimberlywhitman2576
3 жыл бұрын
Gay, I wondered the same thing and I do not believe it is an attention seeking question. Dr. Boz has said it’s difficult to get below 20 in her ratio of ketones to glucose, and this morning my ratio was 9 after a 36 hour fast. Since I’m still a beginner, I don’t know enough to know if that’s ok and to continue the fast if I feel ok, or if I get that low I should go ahead and break it. There is so much to learn about this lifestyle.

I understand the keto diet. One thing that I am missing is a support group and accountability partner. It's funny because I have had 3 or 4 people in my life recently mention I should do this. But I don't know where to start. Please help me get in a group and have someone to be accountable to. When the first lady said she gives up if she slips up. I was like that is me. If I have one bad meal the rest of the day I tell myself well I messed up I will just eat bad today and tomorrow start again. Luckily I have been able to do that mostly but I know it isn't good. Where do I start?
@jselectronics8215
3 жыл бұрын
Have you emptied out your cupboard and fridge? That makes it harder to slip up. Dump all the flour and sugar, pancake mix, cake and cornbread mix, etc. Get rid of any potatoes and carrots. Eat meat. Chuck roasts, tri-tip, beef shank, short ribs, and steak if you can afford it. I like hamburger but the grease goes everywhere so I don't do it much anymore. Maybe I should get an airfryer.

@@jselectronics8215 in struggle with this because my wife won't allow me to get rid of all the stuff. My kids still eat that way. She says you eat the way you want, and she cooks for me the way I want. I can't force others to do it too. Honestly the temptation comes more when I am out than from my house
@jselectronics8215

@@theunstoppableman35I see. If you are tempted when you go out you aren’t eating enough at home. How long have you been at it? It will take a couple months to get fat adapted, where you can go a whole day without food. I know one guy on a car forum that eats celery all day to keep straight.

Patience. And you are probably building muscle which will show up on the scale. Take waist measurements and throw your scale away.

Many people either underdo or overdo the fat. Make sure you calculate your needs on sedentary (if you want loss dont increase the fat you eat right?) And. Deficit usually is 50-75% or what maintenance is. So lets say you weigh 300 lbs and 6 ft. 180g of fat may be your maintenance level but 90g to 135g is weight loss mode. Those are made up numbers but my pennies. Make sure youre getring enough salt so youre not backing up and enough water with that. Are you taking potassium and magnesium? Those are good too. I use nosalt for potassium.

Even when the scale isn't showing movement, your inside is healing. You could be insulin resistant and that takes time to fix. Keep going the course. Go to as close to zero carbs as possible, make sure you are using good fats. Keto on.

What drives me is the energy I get from being angry walking down the packaged food aisles. What you don't see behind that Chernobyl sized list of ingredients is that chemical soup was designed by graduate taste engineers, an army of Dr. Mengele types to entice you into overeating. Just the right amount of salt and sugar and flavor enhancers DESIGNED to hook you. It's amazing how energizing people trying to kill you for money motivates you to fight back.

I realize these videos are several months old and so this comment may not be relatable. After watching 5 episodes it occurred to me that all the intros were done at the SAME time, so NOT really intimately connected to the journey. It is scripted. I find this disingenuous. They even have the same clothes on, as a clue. Didn't like the feeling then that the whole series gave to me so far. Felt like a con job and I so readily wanted to believe it in its authenticity. Comments?
