The name is Gwau (an Akan name) still in use in Ghana. His father Omri (is a name in Ghana)

The Assyrians consistently refer to Israel as the land of Omri, even well past Omri’s reign. They literally call Israel “Omri Land” It makes sense they thought Jehu was a descendent of Omri. They would not have known the internal struggles within the country.

@@thestudyofchristianity but omari make more sense because its historical name that present political system rather than a religious one that israel can present as a name. so instead it could make us question what isreal really meant back then.

You are spot on. I imagine my pronunciation of Jehu is equivalent to saying Jehovah instead of Yahweh 😂
