Just a suggestion that bolt hole in the center of the bed put a cairage bolt in and bolt a spring on the back so that you can grab the bolt to lift the lid and use the finishing piece to the frame and no one would ever know the tool storage is underneath. I love this project and want so bad when I retire in a couple years I want to build one myself. Keep making the great videos.

Coming along just great. The 'vanity gussets were worth the work. 👍Unless its latched somehow, that bed floor is going to be a major source of annoying rattle, don't ya think? Lovin' the profusion of good ole Southern idioms. 😂 Thanks for sharing your project.

Used the curved piece you made and drill a hole for you're finger to stick in to open the trunk/bed Thanks for sharing, always interesting!

You could put screendoor handles around the perimeter of the bed floor for tiedowns, and the rear ones double as handles for lifting the bed floor.

Thanks! It’s actually a Chevy 153 4 banger. They were available in ‘62-‘70 Novas, and came in a lot of mail trucks all the way up into the ‘80s.

Finish the frame. And use an old brass door knob for the trunk handle. lol just thinking out loud. Love what you’re doing.

I'd go with the A frame horns and E-brake spreader bar. AND I'd mount a single tail light...sort of floating in the curved part of spreader bar...! Love the look of the truck ! ...Newk from Kentucky

Magnets to hold the lid down, and that round bar looks great. And where the loop is in the bar would be a good place to be able to lift the panel.

Lookin' good Dennis, ik like the 'model A' back pieces with the spreader bar, it brings a little roundness back in the design, but don't forget the (removable) trailer hitch 😁

hhmmm .. reckon I’ll vote for the piece you originally designed to go on the back .. I just like the way it boxes in the frame. that’ll require a different way to lift the lid .. how about an old piece of leather or rope ?! also depends what you plan to do with tail lights and number plate 🤷🏼♂️ enjoyable video as always mate .. cheers from Autralia🍻🤘

I would think on this part longer. Are you sure you’re done with the bed, frame, and floor? I kinda think a bent pipe “railing ” around the bed floor would look slick. Or a modified roof rack from a station wagon. Think sideboard rail but standing about 3” above the bed floor. That would protect the tank from sliding objects, and give some options for lifting, latching, and strapping…also options for mounting taillights. After that, the bumper, hitch, rear pan will speak to you. Probably. Heh.
