hahaha!!! we almost have the same book buying habits it's scarily fun. *cyber high-five! I am picky with what books to buy too and if I'm not sure I borrow them first at the library. If I do like them I would buy 'em. I love my library too.

Hello! I am a new subscriber and am enjoying your channel. I'm an OLD booktuber - both in age and in that I used to make videos a few years ago. I have similar tendencies in book buying as you do. I like used and new books. There's something about an old, used mass market paperback that has been broken in by someone else that I really like. I'm weird like that :)

***** Hello! I am so sorry that I didn't see your comment before now! Thank you for subscribing! Agreed, sometimes I like my books to be new, but I also really like used books since I feel like the book itself has a story other than just the one contained in it. :)

Fighting the urge to buy books is hard. I'm trying but the desire doesn't go away. Read 10 buy 1. Gotta stick to that.

My book buying urges come and go. I tend to not buy them for a while and then buy way too many. Like right now, I don't feel the urge to buy more books, but I bought a ton of them in November, and some in January too.

Book Depository is owned by Amazon. If you buy from book depository you're still supporting Amazon. (I have a kindle and buy from Amazon all the time so I'm not condemning you, just letting you know.)

Ah! Good info to know. I haven't actually used Book Depository yet, but it looks like a really good source for international editions of books. Whenever I want to buy a book in Spanish on Amazon, it seems like the selection is less and they cost more. Versus on Book Depository when I can just buy the Spanish edition from Spain. I still buy from Amazon all the time as well, but I'm trying to be more mindful about it. :)

Wow, you check out a lot of books! My eyesight is AWFUL. I'm not sure how I'd fare with the microprint haha. I agree about the rereading/buying thing. That's why I would want to own a book anyway... to be able to reread it! Ooohhh, that is a hard question. My instinct is to say CS Lewis. I LOVED Mistborn, but I haven't read any other of Brandon Sanderson's books yet. And although I think he will become one of my favorite authors, and I want his books in hardcover, they don't have to be high class deluxe editions. I'd be perfectly happy with just the original hardcovers. :) I haven't read any CS Lewis other than the Chronicles of Narnia yet, but those are childhood favorites of mine, and I've been meaning to read some of his other works for a long time. BUT, on the other hand, maybe I would have to say Shakespeare, because I DROOL over the Folio Society's Letterpress Shakespeare collection, although they are WAY too expensive for me to ever own. But they are gorgeous and so well crafted and I love watching the videos about them. :) www.foliosociety.com/pages/crafting-letterpress-shakespeare

You can own the Folio Society's L'press S'peare collection. Once you're making $$ as a Dr. for a few years, continue to live mildly under your means & use the extra to buy pricey books, espec. when on sale. You'll have the option. To clarify, I 'could' take out 25 books from the 2 libraries, that's the max., but usually I'm well under it. I take out tomes, art books, lit. classics & other non-popular books from the uni, & bestseller fantasy & travel books from the public library. Lewis books are public domain in my country, as he's been deceased >50yrs. In USA it's a different story. Lewis wrote literary books, literature, philosophy, & religious works. Other than perhaps Pilgrim's Regress, you can get thru the many books in the last 3 categories fine. The toughest books generally are the literary ones, with collections of some of his M.A.-level lectures leading the way. They're brutal stuff for the non-specialist. Others like Allegory of Love and the textbook tome English Literature in the sixteenth century excluding drama aren't all that far behind. Besides S'peare, which Folio Society books would you most want to have? The S'peare books look gorgeous!

TimeAndChance I don't know, there are so many! I haven't looked at them recently enough to be able to name many off the top of my head. Well, they have beautiful editions of Andrew Lang's collected fairly tales from around the world in all of the different colored volumes. They also have all of the volumes of Edward Gibbon's The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. And beautiful matching editions of the Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, and the Silmarillion.
