This score might be the best one that I’ve heard for this film. It fits the tone of the movie perfectly, and really adds to the whole creep factor.

This film is at the top of my list of best pictures of all time. I don't care if it happens to be German or if it is silent. The sets, the acting, the makeup, the cinematography, so much about this film is unique. I get something new from it each time I see it. Perhaps film students should be required to see it.

The sets were very low budget due to the state of Germany so soon after the defeat of WW1. They made do with what they had and the horrors of war leave their mark in a subtle way in the background.
