Thank you for these. I grew up in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. These stories give great peace & gentle humor.

I saw Garrison at the spectacular Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara around 2006. I've enjoyed dozens of live performances at this magnificent venue over the years, but this performance sold out instantly and I never even knew they had a nosebleed section so far away until I scored two seats at the very top. The audience included people of all ages from elementary school to oldsters. Hearing Garrison take almost three hours to weave a story was a privilege. During the intermission half way through, he stayed on the stage and led the audience in calesthenics to keep the blood flowing in our legs and butts while making thinly veiled criticisms of George Bush and his disastrous, then ongoing war on Iraq, followed by leading the audience in singing "America The Beautiful". By the time his story reached its conclusion with the Lutheran ministers' party houseboat colliding with other vessels bearing various familiar and newly introduced Lake Wobegone characters, I joined the rest of the standing room only audience in laughing until I gasped for breath while tears streamed down my cheeks. We all felt blessed to experience the old art of storytelling by a living master.

I love Garrison Keillor. I’ve listened to almost every News from Lake Wobegon. I’ve always found it odd how he’s got it in for vegetarians. Nothing wrong with not eating meat. It’s better for personal and planetary health and of course better for the animals.

I miss his shows on public radio. He left and was canceled by allegations. They could or could not be true. However he will always be treated as a guilty man😮

Yes, I understand your feelings, and yet, as GK would say: "It's not that bad." Thank you for sharing!

most people keep our noses out of other peoples lives. “ do you wanna know what the neighbors think of you? They don’t they have their own lives, so do you quit talking about others” gossip and finger-pointing and backbiting is the same thing as murder

He did a Today Show interview and addressed the allegations (Google it) and it was quite noble. My take on it was about perceptions compared to how culture has changed and he acknowledged that his simple contact wasn't meant as an intrusion though he'll not do things like that again. I'm a year older than GK and can easily relate to how mores move away from our conventional into another area that isn't taken as lightly.

I stopped listening when they moved to NYC, the show changed too much. The stories were, and still are the best.
