I saw The Carpenters live in New Jersey about 1974. Karen was no longer drumming; she stood out front and wore a long red dress. I have never heard such a beautifully expressive voice as hers and doubt if I ever will again. I remembe I was sitting at my desk at work that Winter of 1983 when news came over the radio that she had collapsed and died. I cried then and I still cry when I hear her recorded voice, especially this song. Rest in Peace, Karen. We'll always love you.

51 years have gone by since this beautiful song was released. It will continue to be enjoyed till the end of time. Karen had the voice of an Angel. A voice that was stilled much too young; but will never be forgotten.

It's kind of amazing that she was only 20 or 21 here and her voice had such a maturity to it.

After Karen the only true singer left is Olivia-Newton John. Olivia still sounds great and she's in her 60s. I can only imagine how Karen would have sounded as her voice aged and matured. My god it would have been something truly special.

I agree "Why did she die?"...but I can't (won't) name someone else instead She is sadly missed by many of us. Believe me if either Paris on Kim died there would be many of their fans very sad........just like us missing Karen Carpenter. Have a nice day Roberto

Her transition between octaves is what sets her apart. Those low notes give me chills.

This song is haunting and beautiful. It is one of my earliest memories of childhood that I always refer to whenever I feel blue or just want to reminisce. It was an honor to grow up with this in my life. At 47, I just wanna go back sometimes... but, then I think that I can always have Karen with me on my iPod! The Carpenters were the best!!!
