As someone who would pick a bracelet over a strap every time and ordering direct from Japan really isn’t an issue with the internet, I see zero downsides to this watch. It is light, attractive, reasonably sized verging on slim, three hand display, excellent finishing and completes easily with the best that the Swiss have to offer. Titanium, Sapphire crystal, always accurate to a second, and basically is maintenance free, coupled with 100 metres of water resistance and a shock proof movement. All this for a fraction of the price of any comparable watch, it really is an essential purchase for any collection.

That`s true, but if you want to order one and you live in Europe (the watch has to come from Japan) remind yourself that you will not pay for the watch only. Don`t forget customs/border fee. I bought one from Ebay for 350 euro`s but had to pay 513 euro, including shipment cost and custom fee.

I cannot believe that you failed to talk about the tough movement in this watch which uses sensors to ensure that the seconds hand strikes all of the markers on the dial spot on. It is called tough movement as sometimes shocks and impacts can knock off the alignment of the seconds hand on an analogue watch. That said, its an amazing piece and I agree the integrated bracelet is a let down.

Pibbles - thank you for the info on the auto indice alignment. That is a fantastic feature that I am grateful to learn of. As for the integrated bracelet - this feature is ideal for me. My last watch was/is a Seiko SQ150, which I paid $500 for in 1986. It still keeps perfect time (to the second after 2 months set with atomic clock Ft Carson - new battery), but I retired that unit out of pure respect. I retained the original band, and wore that watch 24 x 7 for over 30 years, and I am a very active outdoors kind of man. Therefore this Casio is absolutely ideal for me. Utterly and completely perfect. This is my replacement for the retired Seiko.

I EDC the Casio GW4000D; a G-Shock version of your watch here that was tailored for the British Airforce. Has the solar/atomic clock sync/city selector for travel/waterproofing and date window like yours. Because it's more pilot like rather than classy and dressy like yours you get the additional day of the week, 24h clock, stopwatches, and alarms. One thing we both share is something I'm not certain you mentioned and that's 'tough movement'. Lovely little feature that makes sure that not only the time is correct but tough movement ensures that the hands of the timepiece always line up accurately with the time markings of the watch. I realize the video is a few months old but I was surprised that these incredible Casio Oceanus features made it into my GW4000D... the watch Gem of my collection ;) Thanks for the great videos as always Nick

I'm the proud owner of a Casio Edifice EF106, the cheapest Edifice going. This was $US38 on Amazon. I have not felt the need to buy another watch since. The accuracy is astounding, never more than 5 seconds fast for months at a time. It has a ten year battery, so no battery worries. It has a faux Panerai dial design, the lume is pretty good, and there is a date function. I don't wear my G Shocks any more, the heft of the steel is reassuring. It is tough and can take the knocks. And I think it looks good. Casio can get the job done and make you feel good while doing it. I had over thirty watches from several price and design categories, but the Edifice just hits the spot and I have worn it every day since I bought it. I have sold many of my previous watch purchases, and I think I'll get rid of the rest in due course. Edifice = perfection.

You convinced me, and after buying one, everything in your review is exactly on point - this is really a gem with a set of very compelling features seldom found in one watch, particularly at this price point. The one thing I would add - as the blue accents on the video were puzzling me - is that the hour markers consist of emerald cut blue crystals with lume painted on their top surface. Those faceted surface pick up well in low light. Most of the time I think they look great, but occasionally as you mentioned they can look a bit cheap. And this is not your watch if you hate the color blue. I originally thought your camera had some crazy color fringing going on but now I understand.

Thanks for the review. I have a Casio WVA-M640TD-1AER which is much more cheaper and roughly differs in 1 main feature: the sapphire glass. The con of my Casio is the plastic/rubber parts which are of low quality. I love the simplicity of your Casio, it looks like a timeless piece from the seventies. Very cool. Nevertheless, I want my next Casio watch to have GPS. If you still want titanium, sapphire, solar powered, perpetual calendar and GPS there is only one option: Casio Oceanus GPS OCW-G1000-2AJF which is 3 to 4 times more expensive than this OCW-S100-1AJF

Thought all I wanted is a square GShock. Started with a Gshock GW-S5600, a titanium back and carbon fiber strap. Then I heard about the full metal square 😬, looking to buy that very badly. Then I started looking into analog watches. Eager to buy a Seiko skx013 and replace the glass with sapphire. Although I want an automatic, I wanted a wear and forget analog watch. So I found out about Casio Lineage LIW m610tds-1ajf with a titanium case and bracelet, sapphire glass, multiband 6, solar, and I was hooked. Just bought it a few hours ago, hope it makes it through customs smoothly. Now I’m watching this review 😬😬😬. This is becoming an expensive hobby and my wallet is crying. You wont settle with just one watch, I promise you. LOL

Thank you for introducing me to this elegant Casio, Nick. Thumbs up! I would very much like to know more about the somewhat similarly looking new Citizen watch, the Citizen Chronomaster AQ4030-51E. I hope you are familiar with this line of watches and possibly even with the AQ4030-51E itself. Can you make such a video, please? I wondered why Chromomaster is told by some reviewers to be the best Japan's quartz watch technology available as of today? What is so special about this much more expensive newest Citizen quartz watch which is built in the similar (IMHO) style and aesthetics? I would like to understand why I'll have to shell out almost $3,000 today if I will decide to buy the Citizen Chronomaster AQ4030-51E instead of this relatively inexpensive as of today Casio Oceanus OCW-S100-1AJF?

Please let me correct you. This kind of accuracy is very well needed!! Travel by train. Start/end (online) meetings right, and i mean right (!) on time. I can not live without a radio synced watch any more. Also, many (most?) people use smartphones for time telling,... those are often very accurate (they are not, but they often get their time from some kind of server continuously) and as a "real" watch user, you don't want to be left behind, being off time (hi drummers). This is only acceptable for mechanical watches, wich have their own very different charme.
