I did because I never got online until a year ago. I found out a lot about them. And sad to say their both gone now. She was married to Ricky Nelson at one time. Or she was going out with him. I can't believe they were not recognized by millions. Because I think they were great. Even though I'm a hardcore rocker. But I love old country music. My first album was Okie from Muskogee. I seen Merl at one of the casinos in NY. He came out with blue sweatpants tucked inside his cowboy boots. With A wrinkled up flannel. Him and Johnny Cash were always my favorites. I love the Merl tune. I think I'll just stay here and drink. I got everything from him and Johnny. I'm even got some of my buddies into those two.✌️👍

Larry's still with us; Lorrie passed away in 2018. As for the guitar, that was a gift from his mentor, Joe Maphis, who had a similar double-neck. The only thing that really went awry was Lorrie marrying at the age of 17...to Johnny Cash's manager who was in his mid 30s. However, Larry went through adolescence without more than the usual drama and went to college to study law. Even though he was successful at his law studies, he returned to music and became a songwriter and record producer.

They were a commercial failure as far as recordings were concerned and merely a novelty act on TV. There's many reasons for this, lack of appeal and their age, in the 50s she was hot but had a kid brother, so promoting them was difficult, they didn't have a record buying fan base, kids like them and older people as well, but not the ones buying the record's, so remained popular for a while on TV. Record buying public liked younger adult performers and those in Thier late teens, for this kind of music, it was the same as today, you need to also look the part to sell yourself, talent alone isn't enough. Look at Fabian, by his own admission he couldn't sing but looked good, so with half decent records he had big hits. If he was an average 12 year old kid who sounded just like Fabian he wouldn't have had any hits. Image was and still is imperative to the record buying public as far as mainstream pop is concerned. I'm sure if the young lady had an adult group she'd have had some hit record's

It was a number of things: most of them involving age and time. Lorrie had gotten involved with Ricky Nelson; however, Ozzie for some reason didn't want them getting too close and told Ricky to limit the relationship to a professional one. Lorrie then married Johnny Cash's road manager (who happened to be twice her age) and she had her first child in 1961. Granted, the novelty of a teenage girl with a deep, sultry voice became less so as she reached adulthood, too. Between the decline of rockabilly, the British Invasion, and the inexplicable failure of their singles to chart, the music industry directed them to Nashville and country music. Lorrie did background vocals for artists such as Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard; Larry turned his talents toward songwriting.

I wonder why brother/sister acts are less common? The brother/sister dynamic seems to have a unique, and charming magic and cuteness. Larry and Lorrie have that magic ability to effortlessly bounce off each other. It was the same with Donny & Marie Osmond. It is a shame there aren't more brother/sister acts, as there does seem to be something very special about that dynamic when it does happen.
