Not sure if I missed it, but how does this compound effect go into... effect?
@DancingStringsGuitar
6 жыл бұрын
Anthony Robbins explained it with the term "exponential" effect. He used the example of a golf game. If you are off by a fraction of an inch when you hit the golf ball, the resulting distance off the mark when the ball lands is much wider. There is a point in the slowly compiling rewards of your new rotuine choice where you see and feel a sudden rise of benefits; a boost upward, like compounded interest. That's what I understood about it.

Not to be rude, but do you consider yourself to be successful? Or are you still working towards it? If the latter, are you really the best person to listen to about this sort of thing? It's like when I see someone who's written two self-help books about success and motivation. If the first was that good, they wouldn't need a second one, right? Not to mention that there are so many books out there that claim to be the 'true path/formula to success' and yet they keep on printing new books. It feels like just another money-making idea that happens to be focused around selling people the idea that they can be successful by following some 'simple' steps. Don't you find it suspicious that most of the people writing these books would count the success of their book to be one of their greatest achievements? Are they not just good salesmen?

First, thanks for taking the time to comment. Am I successful? Well it would depend what your definition of success is. Is it being a millionaire? Being a billionaire? There's also success in health and relationships. But regardless if I am or not, I'm sharing tips from someone who I believe is credible and is successful. In this case, I've actually met Darren Hardy. Just like a lot of things in life, you'll find good books, great books and crap books (Think of it like dating). To say just because some books aren't that helpful, or doesn't work for some, does not mean all books are useless. You seem to have the idea that there should only be one book to obtain true success. To me this is the lottery winning idea that I mentioned in my video. As someone who read over 100 business / self-help books in my life, I have lost track on how many times knowledge I learned from a book has helped or saved me in work, business and in my social life. Also why would you say selling books and being a salesman should not be counted as achievements? The ability to persuade, market and network is something I would consider a skill. Lastly I'll end with this quote, "Only a fool learns from his own mistakes. The wise man learns from the mistakes of others" - Otto von Bismarck

Thanks for the reply. I go down the 'one book for true success' route mostly because so many books promote themselves as the book to end all self-help books, you're own 'infinite loop' is described as a 'true formula for success'. I'm not saying so much that being a salesman isn't an achievement, more that the books being written are very rarely about how to sell self-help books. They're about how to run a business or get a promotion. And gaining success from the sale of a self-help book on success seems antithetical to the idea of the self-help book. That is, an experienced, successful person's comments on 'life on the inside track' and how best to get there. If a chef has three michellin stars, you listen to what they say about food. No question. But if a guy who runs a food truck started recommending wine pairings, I'm not so sure I'd take his advice as reliable information.

I agree with your points. But that's why it's still our responsibilities to do research on the authors and their credibility. With millions of books out there, I don't just randomly pick from a hat. I try to read the ones that are highly recommended, I describe my "Infinite Loop System" in one of my videos as an on going project. I don't think I made the claim it's "The True formula for success." But I am making that claim that if followed will give you "Endless Motivation." I make these videos acting as the middle man. I would agree with you that in general I wouldn't listen to a guy who runs a food truck about wine, but if he knew a wine expert and was quoting or summarizing the expert's advice, I'd still keep my ear open and then later do my research to verify. There's some people who don't like reading, or don't have the time, so I'm doing a service by summarizing books.
