love your content Matty, but i would have to disagree a little on the criticism part: for any creative ecosytem, whether it’s printed material or digital, it is absolutely important to have that thick skin in regards to crtiques. You need to be able to separate constructive feedback from someone who’s having a bad day. Critiques are not meant to be nice, it’s meant to push you into thinking alternative directions that, hopefully, will benefit your project long term. I’ve worked as an art manager for almost 10years, totally different industry, but I see no difference when it comes to the core development process, so offering and recieving criticism is something that’s built over time. Each cycle is a learning experience and platform-building for something greater, so while it’s awesome that you’re learning to distinguish bad from good, don’t let it hold you back.

If you’re getting criticism for free, you don’t have the right to expect a personally tailored, massaged response. They’re going to give it to you bluntly, and you should thank them for their time.

Sony has the same problem as Hollywood, largely Disney and Warner as prime examples. To in which they spend way too much on movies or shows that are either mediocre or flat out insultingly bad. Sony is in that same boat, largely with games as well and outside of a couple of titles, Sony has wasted a ton of money of mediocre crap or insultingly bad shit. Till these studios and publishers get their budgets under control, they will continue to have massive failure after massive failure. As neither Fairgames nor Marathon are looking all that good now and their potential budgets will scream massive failure.

I'm genuinely surprised that anyone likes the sequel to that freeware tech demo, Astrobot 2, which is a VR game that Sony stripped out all VR functionality at the last minute from. It's neat Playstation can salvage a failed premise like developing first party VR games into something that people actually buy, but it's literally a robot with hips larger than it's shoulders. I guess all the Sony nostalgia baiting in the game is enough to tickle people's fancy.

Yeah it's a lot smarter to get a PC this generation I feel. For example, I may have had to wait a year to play Final Fantasy 16, but it's cheaper with all of the content if you think about it. $50 for base game on Steam, $70 for the game and dlc, instead of spending $500 on a console to play a $70 base game with $30 extra for DLC..

8 years and $400 million utterly wasted. Remember when they called people, i quote, « talentless freaks »? The irony speaks for itself.

Pretty sure that was an ex developer that said that, saying “they” implies multiple people said that which I’m pretty sure isn’t true.

Easily over $500m wasted. Man the amount of Playstation fanboys that kept rabbiting on about Halo Infinite's $500m budget and how it was a failure. Concord definitely had a "hold my beer" moment 😬

what the source says doesn’t really add up if Sony believed in it more and spent that much they would of marketed it way more. Will be interesting if more from studio speak on it. I really doubt it was close to 400 million though.

Gamers are sick of live service trend chasing. Unfortunately, with the massive success that is Fortnite and the original Overwatch; the trend chasing is too much for greedy companies to ignore. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

IF they had started with an interesting first person shooter with a solid story and campaign as a single player game, that could have allowed people to get invested in the characters and world. Then, take that attachment and make the live service stuff. As someone who only plays single player games, I didn’t even consider this game. Well, until I got my physical copy once they shut down the game lol

I hope people realise that sony is 100% going to reskin this and sell it, they're not going to take this big of a hit. And to be fair, I liked the slower look on the gameplay compared to modern twitch shooters, but glad the DEI side of the game got the vitriol it deserved.

Heres something to help with critisism. People will always give advice to try and be helpfull. Anyone can tell you the symptoms of writting (this sentince was choppy, it was borring here etc.) is always true, they did feel that way. The diagnosis and treatment that they recomend might be useless but the symptoms arn't. Im so excited to play your game when it comes out!

Think how many others games they could have made with their old IPs or even new ones. But instead we get $400 mil blown on Concord and ps4 remasters. We got Astro Bot at least but that even makes me more sad hearing this because it shows all the IPs Sony doesnt use

Toxic positivity explains so much wrong with the western AAA industry. It’s why we see so many western AAA devs have freak outs on Twitter against players. They are all surrounded by people who think exactly like themselves and no one wants to be the “bad guy” and say “hey these characters are bad, we should redesign them” or “hey this mechanic is boring and not fun, lets do something else.” Instead they are in an echo chamber of fake pleasantries and pats on the back, when what they really need is honest conversation and criticism from inside the studio.
