Probably one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard. The melody is so enchanting, its pure magic. Roy and Ronnie will never be forgotten. True bards and noble Scots men they will be forever.

Rossmcl177, I think this was the performance I was privileged to see at Edinburgh's Usher Hall,1969/70.Perfect mix of superb musicianship and audience held in the palms of their 4 talented hands. Sigh!

I think this performance was a little later than that. Mid 70s I think. Can't remember the exact year.

This was them in their absolute hey-day. Early-mid 70s I'd guess? They were still good in the 1980s but theyd lost something by then I think. They were just great in this period though.

does anybody know if there is somone comparable with the Corries nowadays? were they so unique? people (not only Scots) should sing such songs, for reminding that there are other things about life than only money and sex

@Scottishindependance Though I don't entirely disagree with your comment (though I think James Taylor is a better singer), the fact that you can't spell independence just shows the endless stupidity behind the Scottish independence movement.

Unless of course the SNP take up the sword dance as a mandatory cultural expression. And then get all fusion-y and dance it to Ravel's _Bolero._
